    3. Hi Cousin Donna, I am also descended from Jacob Adamson and Ruth Covey. Our line goes back to John Adamson of Bucks county PA and Ann Skuce who declared intention of marriage Feb. 1715/1716. They were Quakers. Their seventh child was Simon Adamson born 1733 in Springfield, Bucks County, PA died 1810-1820 Jefferson County, TN. Friends Records indicate that Simon married "out of unity" 2 mo, 1758 and left the county. He did not go directly to Tennessee at that time, but instead to North Carolina. We do not know the name of his first wife. He married 2. ELEANOR [____] The third child of Simon and his first wife was Simon Adamson Jr. born 1763 in North Carolina, died Feb. or Mar. 1814 in Jefferson County, TN, probably buried Rock Valley Cemetery, Jefferson County, TN, married 1789 Randolph County, NC ELEANOR ROUTH daughter of Jacob and Martha [Redfern] Routh born 1769 in what is now Randolph County, NC, died after 1860 Collin County, TX at the home of her grandson Jacob Wilson. She is probably buried Collin County, TX, though a search in 1997 did not reveal a stone in any of the cemeteries in the Weston, TX area. The fifth child of Simon and Eleanor [Routh] Adamson Jr. was Jacob Adamson born TN about 1798, married 1. Jefferson County, TN Aug. 1, 1815, RUTH COVEY daughter Samuel and Elizabeth [Nap/Knapp] Covey of Montgomery County, VA, born 1799, married 2. Platte County, MO, November 19, 1840 MARIAH GERWELL born 1818 in OH. Jacob is credited for laying out the town of New Market, Platte County, MO in 1850. Samuel Covey was a Revolutionary War soldier who among other battles took part in the Battle of Kings Mountain, SC said to be the turning point in the south. In the Census records of 1850 Jacob Adamson lived next to son Samuel Adamson and only a few houses away from son Eliphalet Kelsey Adamson who was living next to Jacob's brothers Larkin and Levi Adamson. The second child of Jacob and Ruth [Covey] Adamson was Elizabeth Adamson born Jefferson County, TN 1820, married Ray County, MO, her cousin, PERRY BALES son of William and Elizabeth [Adamson] Bales, born TN 1814. CHILDREN: Perry and Elizabeth [Adamson] Bales 1. NANCY BALES born MO 1838 2. MARTHA BALES born MO 1839 3. SERENA BALES born MO 1842 4. PRISCILLA BALES born MO 1844, married ____ VANDERPOOL 5. JACOB A. BALES born MO Jan. 1845 6. WILLIAM KELSEY BALES born MO 1849 7. JOHN LARKIN BALES born MO about 1854 8. SAMUEL J. BALES born MO Mar. 1857 9. SALLY DALE BALES married ____ FESTER One of the daughters, perhaps Martha, named "Sis" married ____ GILLETTE The third child of Jacob and Ruth [Covey] Adamson was Eliphalet Kelsey Adamson (My great great grandfather) born Jefferson County, TN July 12, 1822, died Easton, Leavenworth County, KS Feb. 2, 1901, buried with his wife at Easton Cemetery, Easton Township, Range 21, Section 19, married Bretz Mill, Buchanan County, MO by a Justice of the Peace, July 12, 1843 REBECCA [ROUTH] RANDOLPH daughter of Zaccheus and Nellie [____] Routh born Sevier County, TN June 12, 1825, died Easton, Leavenworth County, KS Feb. 11, 1901.
