Jerry ~ Don't forget the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, 5 miles south of Bern KS. It is on the Robert Miller farm. The first headstone to have been placed there was for Joseph Adamson, brother of John and Thomas (all sons of James Adamson and Lydia Roberds). Thomas and John each laid out a piece of their adjoining land for a cemetery, and their brother and his one year old son are there. The inscription on the headstone (mis)reads that little John was the son of Joseph and P.C. Adamson. Her name was Talitha (someone must not have spoken clearly, or someone heard wrong, as P and T can sound the same). Talitha Cordell Adamson died a year earlier (Dec 1854), as a result of John's birth, as the wagon train passed through Hannibal MO and she was buried at Palmyra MO. Dick and I were unable to locate a headstone, and as near as I can learn, there is no official record of her death. Joseph and Talitha had a daughter Esther born earlier, who survived the family.
