Hi Denisse! i was just wondering what you meant by" you had tried the Mormon thing"? The LDS Library is a hugh research library for everyone to use, and the info that is sent in to them is not always correct. Isn't this wonderful to be able to connect with our cousins? Yes it is. I love all the new cousins I've acquired in the last few months, thanks to Bill Long, of MD, who first answered a post on the LONG side. The Mormon thing. I have spent much time at their local family research site. Denisse
Jerry, Thanks so very much! This is quite a treat, all this information. Have been trying to get proof of these grandparents for an aunt, who wishes to join DAR. Been doing research for a short time, updating an uncle 's work. Bless him! Tried the Mormon thing, etc. to no avail. (There are also 2 Richard Longs w/Charlotte Adamson as spouses. So I was rather confused. Think 1st Richard is an uncle of this Richard, but Charlotte, can not find any info on the 1st. ) When you refer to a photo of Richard Long, is it suppose to be attached to this letter, or is it on your site? If it is here, I have a problem. My grandmother Ruth Long Booth, was the infant left when Charlotte Adamson died, so my grandmother's children knew little of her mother/family. A sister raised her. My g-mother said she was related to a Hatfield family, which I found in Ten Mile Country. The internet is wonderful. I almost feel guilty after so many have dedicated of their lives to research, the hard way. Where did you find this information? I checked out your wonderful site a while back--and was so excited to see all the cemetery photos, now I have a file of those. I hope to get to PA this summer, on way to Nantucket, the long way! (We're in CA.) I also read abt the Adamson reunion, and that you were doing cemetery tours. Thank would be a treat. Can not wait to call my aunt, she'll be delighted to know more of her grandparents. I truly appreciated your assistance. Denisse

You had to make me cry this morning didn't you. Thanks for the kind words. Love, Donna
I would like to introduce you to one of the finest people and the most thorough genealogical researcher I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Dr. Jim Adamson. I have seen him stand (no chairs available) doing research in the Mason County KY courthouse, for hours on end, never taking ANY kind of break. He and his wife, Donna, traveled to every one of the counties his (and my) ancestors had lived and searched out the information. He identified the land they had owned, the rivers they had crossed or rafted down, always recording his data (how many of us can say that?). Being a Pathologist, he insisted on covering every minute detail, sometimes more than once. He was looking forward to his retirement, when he could spend more time on the research. Unfortunately, he passed away 6 years ago, before he was old enough to retire. What he brought to the Adamson family genealogy was accurate information. Would that I could do as much for the family history books. He was my second cousin, a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a very good man. I wasn't privileged to know him long enough. I am so very grateful to Jim and Donna for all they have done for us. And Donna is continuing in his footsteps, researching and sharing. Thanks Donna! Evelyn Young
I'm enjoying reading the messages about the PA/OH Adamsons, but it's a generation or two too early for me right now to "relate". Get it? Relation. . .relative. I need help from those Adamson descendants who went from Tennessee to Indiana (Wayne, Randolph, Henry Counties). Henry married Esther Lamb (whose family had Quaker history) in 1831 and this family is recorded in 1840 Randolph Co. census having 3 children. He was born between 1800 and 1810 in TN. He's connected with Abraham and Enos Adamson and others who went to Jasper Co., Iowa. Henry's was the first probate entry in Jasper Co. I'm trying to find his parents and the connection to those that went to Iowa. There has to be someone out there that can give a lead. Your help is really needed. Cindy

Check it over and see if you agree. Some of this is theory: William Adamson, b. ca 1766 probably Bucks Co., PA, d. ca 1800. It is thought that he was the oldest of Joseph's children and was probably born in Buck's Co., Pa. A William Adamson was present and taxed in Mason Co., KY in 1800. Nothing more was heard of him. We think he may have died leaving possibly 5 young children, at least 2 of whom seem to have been raised by Joseph, their grandfather. The obituary of George Adamson, who was probably William's oldest son states that "He (George) was born in Western Pennsylvania in Jan. 1779 and removed to this county (Mason Co., KY) in 1800, living with his grandfather (probably Joseph) on a farm on the North Fork." This is interpreted to mean that William, George's father, moved from Western PA to Mason Co. about 18800, which would correspond with the Mason Co. Tax records.. We think his children were: George b. 1791, Western PA m. 4 Apr 1814, Mason Co., KY Phoebe Frazee 5 May 1844, Mason Co., KY Mary Blythe d. 25 Jul 1879 Joseph b. ca 1792, PA? m. 26 Apr 1814, Mason Co., KY Prudence Young d. 1846, Adams Co., OH He was with George in the war of 1812. He and George were in the same unit and entered the service at the same time and place and were mustered out at the same time and place. He moved to Ohio shortly after he was married as the first child was born there. His widow received two land warrants for his service. Margaret b. ca 1794, PA? m. 13 Dec 1809, Mason Co., KY Uriah Wiggins Grandfather, Joseph Adamson, was her guardian Ann b. ca 1796, Pa? m. 1817, Mason Co., KY Anthony Kilgore Joseph was guardian for her and gave permission for her to marry. The permission stated that she was his granddaughter and she was the correct age to have been the girl living with Joseph and his wife in the 1810 census. The only other Adamson man married early enough to have been Ann's father was Stephen. Yet when Stephen's farm was sold his heirs were were listed as Francis (widow), sons James and John and daughter Margaret Adamson Biggers--no mention of a daughter, Ann. William Adamson b. ca 1797, PA? m. Nov 1821, Mason Co., KY Sarah Poe d. before 1880, Nicholas Co., KY? Possibly raised by Joseph. He would have been the appropriate age to have been the boy living with Joseph and his wife in the 1810 census. Another reason for thinking that he is the son of William is that he and his wife named their first two sons "Patrick" for his wife's father and "William" (presumably for his father). He may have been in the war of 1812, as a William Adamson served as a private in Jeremiah Martin's Co., 3rd Reg. Kentucky Militia. --part0_921118815_boundary--
In reference to Evelyn Young message of Mar. 4. "We are responding to the query concerning Margaret Adamson and Uriah Wiggins, as pertains to Joseph Adamson. We believe Joseph to be Margaret's grandfather (her father being William, who we think drowned). " ***************** Recently I have made contact with an Adamson who lives near Maysville, Mason Co. KY. From some his notes that he sent, his Great Grand Parents were William Adamson and Sarah Poe. He also stated that William was born in PA in 1796. and died between 1870-1880. Census records indicate that this William was enumarated as h/h in 1820 and 1830 in Mason Co., PA I also believe that Sarah was the h/h in 1840, Mason Co. KY. I have not yet connected this William, but suspect that he is a Grandson of Joseph (1745- ). Could he be the son of the William that drowned? I have been invited to stop by their place in Northern Kentucky. I intend to do exactly that when I make my Research trip to KY, OH and PA this summer. The trip will be a little later than usual as I will be attending an ADAMSON reunion in Pennsylvania in mid July. Questions :: Any idea as to the year that William Drowned?. Also what is the source of this information.
The theory about William Adamson drowning is just that at this point. My husband did a great deal of research on the family, and were he still living he would be able to give you his reasons for thinking that. Perhaps someone else will be able to shed light on this. Donna Adamson

Forgot so say that Sarah Eagon's husband, Thomas Adamson, Jr. was a brother of Martha Adamson and my Joseph Adamson.
I have boxes and boxes of notes. My husband spent about 10 years researching the Adamson's before he died in 1993. We went on many trips looking for clues. As you know, we all go back to the John and Ann (Skuce/Skews) who were in N.J. and Bucks Co., PA. I have Thomas Hatfield m. Martha Adamson (b. 2 Nov 1760, d. 13 Aug 1836.) Her grave is in the Old West Cemetery, Brown Co., OH. I would love to have more on their descendants. I also have an Elizabeth Adamson (d. Iowa) m. to a Josiah Adamson b. 1797. His parents were Thomas Adamson, Jr. and Sarah Eagon. I don't have anything further on them. My husband's ancestor was Joseph Adamson, brother of the above Martha Adamson. If you have more thoughts or any corrections, I'm sure we could be mutually helpful. Donna Adamson, Grand Island, NE
