I received a letter from Sidney Adamson who lives in Rawlins Wyoming looking for information on his father (Jack, John, Johnathan). He may have had two or more sisters, Sara (h), Jenny, and possibly Veronica. He and Veronica were both in Freemont Co. Wyoming in 1910 census. I can pass any information you may have on to Sidney, Thanks, jerry

Great idea on the Roll Call, Jerry. Here's mine. I have reached a brick wall with my MD. and D.C. ADAMSON's. My gggrandfather was Richard H. ADAMSON. He was born ca. 1827 in MD. (Montgomery Co., I believe). He married Mary Ann CROWN on 24 DEC 1848 in D.C.(she was born in D.C. but her ancestors originated in Charles Co., then Montgomery Co., MD.). Richard and Mary Ann lived in D.C. and the Georgetown area of D.C. and had five children that I know of, all born in Washington, D.C.: 1. Irving, b. 1848 2. William Winford, b. 1850 3. Mary Emma, b. 1853, d. 1933 (married name, Sebastian) 4. Edward F., b. 1854/5 5. Richard Albert, b. 1860, d. 07 SEP 1923, D.C., my ggrandfather. i believe Richard H. ADAMSON is a descendant of John Baldwin ADAMSON and/or Basil ADAMSON who settled in Frederick Co., (later became Montgomery Co., MD.) in 1720's and purchased land to be called "Adamson's Choice", but so far have been unable to prove it. My lineage (Short Version): ADAMSON, Richard H. (abt 1827-1872) m. Mary Ann CROWN (abt 1825-1883) ADAMSON, Richard Albert (1860-1923) m. Cora May BROWN (1871-1964) ADAMSON, Edward Ernest (1888-1957) m. Wilhelmina L. Kreuter (1888-1968) ADAMSON, Edna Amelia (1909- ) m. Bernard E. Thomas (1902-1961) THOMAS, Carolyn Louise (1949 - ) m. J. S. Travers (1949- ) I would greatly appreciate any information anyone might have on Richard H. ADAMSON. Many thanks for your time. Carolyn Thomas Travers
TO ALL MEMBERS::: We have several new members in the last couple of weeks. List messages seem to have slowed so now would be a good time for everyone to let each other know of our information needs and perhaps we can help each other. Some mail lists discourage a Roll Call because it can create several messages for everyone. I believe if we want to share information, we must talk to each other regularly, and a posting now is appropriate. For information, we have 72 members, with a few belonging to both the list and digest version. I encourage you to list your lineage, your general needs, and anything else of genealogical value in the Adamson Family. I manage several county lists that are also very small. Recently on one list, I suggested a Roll Call and a member sent me a personal message stating she was had some information but thought she really didn't know enough to inform the list. I explained to her that nobody could help if she wasn't going to inform the list of what she knew and what she was looking for. Also her information, even sparse might help some other member. After a couple of emails pleading with her, she posted a very simple statement of what she knew and needed, and within a day or two, the list was inundated with several messages of information that she was searching for. Her information helped one gentlemen in his search and she found three distant cousins that belonged to the list. Also in her message she stated that she had several high school yearbooks in one of the local towns that her mother had given her and she would / do lookups for anybody. The list is currently very active and she is looking up information for everyone. So my message is simple, Lets tell each other what we have and what we need!!! Jerry, List Manager So Here Is My Posting: My effort is to collect ALL ADAMSON INFORMATION. I have expanded my search efforts in the last year to include all states and Adamson Branches. I am currently extracting ADAMSON families from the 1880 soundex for all states. I have completed almost one half of the states and should finish this winter. A member friend in Tacoma WA has volunteered to proof read what I had completed so those records will be available before winter. I also collect photographs of Adamson Tombstones. I am searching for ancestors and descendants of ROBERT ADAMSON who was born about 1800 in Scotland (possibly Kilmarnock). He was in New Glasgow, Terrebonne County, Lower Canada (Quebec) by about 1825 and by 1841 and moved to Coldstream, Middlesex County, Ontario. I have a sampler which has been passed down which has stitched on it "SARAH ADAMSON, age 12, 1820 Kilmarnock". I do not know how Sarah is related- possibly a sister. I have been able to locate a Sarah (born at the right time in Kilmarnock ) in the IGI as the daughter of William Adamson and Margaret Millar. I cannot locate Robert in the IGI. ROBERT ADAMSON married Mary BAKER b. Vermont and had children named Margaret (b 1825), William (b 1826), Robert Jr. (b 1831), and Mary (b 1836). I am a descendant of William who later moved to Port Austin, Huron County, Michigan. There are no surviving males in this - my father was the last. I do not know what became of Robert Jr.- possibly there are some descendants there. ROBERT ADAMSON Sr was quite well educated and a minor politician. Some of his letters have been saved in the National Archives of Canada Robert ADAMSON settled with other Scots ( Robert HUNTER, HUME LAVERTY). Robert HUNTER of Paisley ,Scotland came to Lower Canada about the same time as Robert Adamson and received land as bounty for service with Scots Guards (The Kiddies ) in the Napoleonic wars. Any help or clues would be most appreciated. Thanks Roberta Adamson, Michigan U.S. REAdamson@earthlink.net higan U.S. REAdamson@earthlink.net
To List Members >From List Manager: : Next week, rootsweb will announce a new feature. One of the requests they get most often from RootsWebbers is for better navigation tools. RootsWeb provides a dizzying assortment of surname-oriented research resources, so much that it can be overwhelming to even the experienced user. Folks are constantly asking us if there's some way to unify the Websites, mailing lists, RSL entries, and GenConnect boards together in a single resource. What *is* a Surname Resource? Although these new resources are still under construction, they are operational. Stop by http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/ and feel free to explore.
Jerry, Thanks for the info. I'm just starting my search for my ancestry. I live in Louisville, KY. My father was (Harvey) Lawrence Adamson, and was raised in Ormsby Village Orphanage. He had 2 brothers; both dead, and a sister, Anna Margaret (Cockerel) Adamson. Her daughter, Deloris (Cockerel) McGovern has done some research, but works so many hours at U of L, I hardly get a chance to talk to her about it. It seems I have family who were Scotch-Irish; (all red heads), and Native American. Thanks again, Karen (Adamson) Grimes
Who are the parents, brothers & sisters, etc. of Lydia ADAMSON? My ADAMSON site at http://www.ipns.com/katie/roots/adamson.html is so sparse! Your help is appreciated. DEYCOMD@aol.com wrote: > Jerry - do you have this? Evelyn > > http://www.rootsweb.com/~paallegh/whattwp.html No I had not seen this particular Reference: My Pennsylvania research has been mostly limited to Greene County. I have done a 1850 Census PA extraction for Adamsons, but found no one in Allegheny County. I also did a 1880 Soundex PA extraction for Adamsons and found only two in Allegheny Co. Alex Adamson in West Liberty Township and John Adamson in Union Township. Both Alex and John were born in Scotland. and have large families. Anybody needing information on these families, see me. Found a reference from Grantor Index-Union County KY that shows the following: "1834 James W. Adamson hrs. to Joseph Vaughn Bk E pg 195. James deceased 19 May 1834." PLEASE help me learn who this James is.....my Adamson family has a lot of connections around that time to Union County, so suspect there is a close tie here. Does anyone know who this is..what family does he belong to? Any help, speculations, etc.??? Sue Adamson Fritz Trinity400@aol.com
There were 3 Adamsons in the Vietnam War who were killed: Donald Bruce from Michigan Frank Leslie from Kentucky Larry O'Neal from Alabama Rick may be thinking of a Lannie Ray Anderson from Lincoln, Kansas. The 2 names sound similar. To search for names on the wall, go to www.vietvet.org and select "Remembrance" subject. ---------- > From: Jerry F.
