Hi Listers! Thought you might be interested in this Adamson bio I found on the following Indiana site: I don't know who the submitter is, but she must be nice to have put an Adamson on the bio page. Evelyn Young http://www.members.tripod.com/~debmurray/madison/madbios.htm Enos Adamson The subject of this sketch came to Madison county in 1827 and located one mile east of Huntsville on the farm now owned by George R. Diven. He lived there but a short time, removing to Huntsville, where he engaged in the milling and mercantile business. The mills were consumed by fire in 1848, causing him considerable loss. He rebuilt the mills, sold them to Wilson and Cockayne, and removed to Missouri, and died there about the year 1850. His wife died and was buried at Huntsville a few years previous to his removal. They had four children, whose names were Thomas, John, Elizabeth and Louisa Jane. Mr Adamson was regarded as a very honest man and will be remembered as a great help to Huntsville, the home of his manhood, where his best days were spent. He was, at one time, worth a great amount of property, but it is understood that he lost the greater part of it by his removal West. I never saw Mr. Adamson, and can give no sketch of his personal appearance. Some who read this will call to mind his form and doubtless many kind acts which were characteristic of the man. Of his children there are none living within the county and their place of residence is unknown to the writer. Here we leave this interesting family as any further account would not be of general interest. Ann, did you get the package I sent you "Prospectuc Genealogy of the Adamson Family" By A.P. Adamson? Every thing on my lineage has proven to be correct. I don't think the other e-mail meant this Prospectus Genealogy. You will see when you read the manuscript she does list some of her sources. There is one error on Frederick son Nathan. He married Anne Danhauer. Barb
I also thought there were problems with the Prospectus. Can anyone direct me to find what is right and what is wrong? Any articles written? I know some of the children listed as Basil Adamson's in several family histories I have read were really children of his son John. Ann Lester
Hi Adamsons, I forhgot to put the dates of death for my grandfather and his twin brother and the location of the cemetery. LEO HAYDEN and CLAUDIE B. ADAMSON ( TWINS ) born October 29, 1872 WAYNE CO. KY LEO died SEPT. 6, 1923 RUSSELL CO. KY. CLAUDIE died SEPT. 23, 1923 ( DON'T KNOW WHERE HE DIED OR HOW ) They died seventeen days apart. I would love to know what CLAUDIE died of, and where. Especially since their death dates are so close, and they were twins. There was no death record on CLAUDIE, but there was one on LEO. I have tried to contact the church next to the cemetery, and have had no luck. I cannot find a number for the cemetery. Both are buried in BETHAL CEMETERY in RUSSELL CO. KY The cemetery is close to the ADAIR CO. line. LEO has a newer tombstone and CLAUDIE'S is much older. A lady from Russell Co e-mailed me and told me that she went to the graveyard to be sure BETHEL was the right cemetery. She told me, that in front of LEO'S tombstone, there is the remains of an old saddle that someone had put there. Also: LEO'S wife MARY ELIZEBETH ( BURTON ) ADAMSON is buried in LOUISVILLE, KY at the EVERGREEN CEMETERY on PRESTON HWY. Their children: DAVE ADAMSON, REFUS ADAMSON, and EFFIE ADAMSON ( HARTLAGE ) are all buried there, along with their spouses. Have a wonderful week, Bonnie Hunter l week, Bonnie Hunter =20
Listers ~ Are you referring to the Adamson Prospectus by Dixon? If so, there was much speculation in that, and I hope everyone would do their homework to prove whatever they extract from it. Evelyn Young

I meant the earlier John and no it doesn't add up. I found John and Basil in book " the Maryland Militia in the Rev. war. I am sure it is Basil and his son John. Do you want me to scan this for you? I also found in another book "The Early Settlers of Maryland" Evans Adamson transported 1663 John Adamson Transprrted 1677. Do you think it is the other John?
In a message dated 6/21/99 6:34:38 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Barbhull@aol.com writes: << Where was John Adamson born? >> Barb, Depends which John Adamson you are talking about. Basil's son John, brother of Frederick, is listed as being born 1748 in Montgomery Co., MD, d. 1828 in MD. The John Baldwin Adamson, son of the earlier Basil, was said to be born c. 1700 in Largo, Fife, Scotland according to the Prospectus, but that doesn't match up with Basil and his brother John settling in PA in 1691, does it? I made the copies and took them to work to put in a big envelope, but had forgotten to bring your address, so will get them off tomorrow. Ann

Thank you Karen, Tom for the info on Harrison Co. IN information. I was going to Lacona. Thanks Gerald, I think the book could reach me via UPS if you send before tuesday. I get three day service from Portland, seattle. Send it to my sisters Address in Oklahoma. The UPS Driver knows me very well. He thinks I own Gateway and Broderbund. Send to Jerry F. Adamson, 13111 South Highway 10, Wyandotte, Oklahoma, 74370 I also can receive USPS stuff here, but I don't use much because of Junk mail. If anybody has, maps , photos, directions, that you want to send, I'll thank you with greatness. If you have a need for a photograph of some Adamson marker near the route from SE Kansas to IN, OH, KY and southwest PA, I can get for you and you can take it off the internet. For those of you who have not visited my site, I have "hundreds" of Adamson gravemarkers. ****** One last tidbit. I just received my license for the URL of "AdamsonAncestry.com" This will make searching for site names easier for new people and easier for you to find the site. http://www.adamsonancestry.com/ For the time being it is a mirrored site and just routes you to my other sites. (now am using four). Some space is cheap, some costs.
Jerry, You will have to go to the cemetery in Laconia. It is my family graveyard. As I said it is in Laconia. It is very easy to reach. Go down Rt. 11 to Laconia. You will run into a stop sign with an old store on the right. Take a left an go a couple of miles (could be more) the graveyard is on the left. You will see about 8 to 10 Adamson Graves. These Adamsons are directly related to the Arthur family in Harrison. As a side note you will pass a cemetery on Rt. 11 in which the decendants of Squire Boone is have set aside the land in rememberance of Squire. As you probably know he was the first brother of Daniel Boone. He was wounded in the Rev. War, became Governor of Indiana, and turned to the Ministry. HIs church has been restored on the property. The other Adamson-Arthur cemetery is located on old Forrest Road. To get there you must take the second Rt. 62 exit to Corydon off I64. Take a right to the signal lights. Take a right and then an immediate left to Old Forrest Road. About 4 miles down the road and on the left is Luthers Chapel cemetery. There is a family of Adamsons in the back of the cemetery. It is very overgrown and hard to find. You may have to ask for directions. Tom Cockerel "Jerry F. Adamson" wrote: > To All Members: > I think we are doing great on sharing our Adamson lineage. Jerry, I apologize for not getting the book I promised to you. You need it for your research in Lawrence County. Be sure to photograph the cemetery surrounding the "Old Union Church" near Fayetteville, a few miles west of Bedford. There are many Adamson in Lawrence County, and many old cemeteries. There is a New Union Church in the area also, with Adamsons in the cemetery there. An Adamson is also a local politician, city of Bedford I believe. I think he is either in real estate or insurance, so should be in the phone book. There is a wealth of resources in Bedford and surrounding area. I have one copy of this book ready to mail, can I send it to you general delivery, say at Bedford, or your first stop over? Or ?? You really need this book to enjoy Lawrence county. Have a good trip, Jerry
I find in the 1880 Wright Co. Missouri Soundex, two Adamson's both named William age 22 and 21. They were enumerated with families as living next to each other, so I tend to believe they could be brothers. In 1900 soundex indication is that one of them is aka as Jas. (perhaps William James). Many of the Adamson's in Southwestern Missouri can be traced to these two. Both are shown as being born in Missouri. Perhaps Wright Co.. If so, they could belong to either Alford or William R. as enumerated in the 1850 census. Does anybody have any of the 1850 extraction's for the Adamson's in Wright Co. Mo for 1850. Would appreciate hearing if you have or have access. Also perhaps the 1860, or 1870 census. Jerry F. Adamson
To All Members: I think we are doing great on sharing our Adamson lineage. There are still quite a few members who have yet to tell what they know and/or what they need.. To you researchers who have not made the connections, let me assure you that there are many on the list whom have lots of information and are willing to share and help. You need only ask. I want to Thank everyone for many the list active again. I will be leaving this week for an extended research trip. I will be researching in Lawrence and Harrison Co., Indiana: Clermont, Brown and Adams Co., Ohio; Mason and Roberston Co., Kentucky, and Greene Co. Pennsylvania. I am particular taking pictures of Adamson grave markers. If you are aware of any cemetery in these counties or on the way, I would appreciate hearing from you before June 22. It may and will save me a lot of time in my search. I also will be visiting with Adamson descendants on the way. If you know of anybody that can lead to information in these areas, again I would appreciate it. When I am in travel status, I monitor the list, at public libraries. I gain access to the my email and can send messages using my hotmail address. So if you see a message from "reddog_ks@hotmail.com" its only me. I will keep you posted of any great finds. I expect to be gone around four weeks or more. Thanks, Jerry
Jerry, Tom, my cousin, and can tell you about some very obscure cemeteries where you can find ADAMSON's buried. One is in at The Memorial Baptist Church in Laconia, IN. Many of our relatives are there. Tom is also trying to take over a very small overgrown cemetery. I'm not sure where it is located, but he can tell you. I don't know if the two of you keep in touch, but if not either you or I can let him know your itinerary if you will have time to visit these sites. Hope this helps. Karen
