    3. Tom, We are sorry to hear that you have lost your mother. And we send our deepest sympathy. We lost a Great Aunt this week, Ruth Adamson Bayard. She also was short in statue, but was a very great lady. She missed her 96th birthday by one day. She was the last of her immediate family, having out lived all of her siblings. Our condolences to you and your family as you go throught this trying time, but remember there will be a great reunion of ALL the Adamson's in heaven some day. To view this letter, I have put a copy on the internet at this address: http://www.AdamsonAncestry.com/judydye/ -- Jerry F. 3. Margie, I sent you the one address that I had from the UK. In addition I have in my library , Eight volumes (Reprints) of some work by Malcolm J. Adamson, whose address is in xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Great Barr, Birmingham, B42 2DL, England. The title is "THE ADAMSON PROJECT" published from May 1985 to April 1990. These booklets are similiar in nature as Judy K. Dye, (KARD) Adamson Ancestry) but are about Adamson's of England and Scotland. They have several family charts and stories of Adamsons. It is my information that Malcom no longer is publishing, but I believe that he is still researching. If someone has interest, contact me via private email and I will send the full Address. Judy Dye, published them as a reprint in April 1998.The last I heard , Judy Dye still had several copies of the Eight Volumes for sale. Anyone doing research on Adamson's of England or Scotland should consider these publications in their personal Library. ...............jerry -- Jerry F. 3. Karlene, Thomas Adamson Sr. is believed to be buried on his farm. Most likely both he and his wife were buried their. His death was perhaps one of the first in Greene County, and formal cemeteries were not established. Two cemeteries in the area of his farm are the Swan Cemetery and Sheppard Cemetery are close by and neither have burials that early. The Sheppard Cemetery was restored and cleaned as a boy scout project several years ago. It is probably within a mile of Thomas Adamson's burial site. However I have yet to determine the location of the "dwelling". Records indicate that the Sheppard Cemetery is next to the Sheppard Meeting house. The area is general has been stripped mined, and I have not yet determined the boundaries of the Adamson property, but I sense it was adjoining or very close to the meeting house. Thomas Sr. died between 2 Feb., and 22 Feb., 1790 and his wife Mary Burson died prior to Mid March (same year). So, There won't be any photos of their burial site to display. Some day, Maybe I will determine the site location of the dwelling and would get photograph of the general area.. It would be my hope to someday have this site on the "tour" of cemeteries of Greene County. My information on John Adamson and Ann Skew/Skuce is limited to what others have written in various places. 3. Hello Mary, Thanks for the info. Just to clarify, my files have Elijah Adamson dying in November 1826 in Wilson Co., Tennesee. I did not have any location for Susannah Hathaway's death or burial location. Is your message to mean that Susannah or Elijah or both are both buried in Thorpe Cemetery? 2. Merlin Schuman
    3. Jerry, all men over the age of 21 years of age were taxed. Some tax collectors recorded the names of all males over 21 but most recorded just the number of males and the name of the head of household. Best to look at the original records which might have added data (such as location of land, number of horses, number of males in different age groups, etc.).

    3. That sure explains why Thomas Sr. does not appear on the Tax List as he would have been 70 years old. Bud, thanks for the explanation On the same lists I have seen "Single Men". Do you know what the criteria was to tax single men. Age ? Living on land?? Could a young man (say 25 years old) living with his parents also be taxed?? What happened if he was married and had wife and young child living in the same household as his father.?? If father under 60 and father over 60. This may explain a lot of questions I have had regarding Land Tax. Seems like owning the land was not the criteria, was it more like an occupation or living tax?? Thanks for any additional information. ...............Jerry Adamson. Merlin Schuman wrote: > Jerry, if a person was over 60 years of age he did not have to pay land taxes.
