    3. Jerry, that Amanda B. is my third great grandmother. I've been looking (and looking) for her. Her location in 1920 is why I started searching the Adamson family. Thank you so much. Kansas does not have a death cert. for her, she did not appear in the 1920 KS census and her death date is NOT on her tombstone. (She has a double stone with her husband in Linn Co., KS) This makes me wonder if she's buried in OK also. I am not related to the Adamsons. Flora is the sister of my grgrandfather, Henry Clay Jeffers. We have no pictures or family information. I was hoping that there would be someone who could tell me something. Usually it's the daughters who end up with that sort of thing and that's why I am looking for Flora's descendants. Again, thank you so much. I did not find them in the 1910 KS Soundex, and I have not yet looked in the 1910 Oklahoma. The Reference for the deaths came from Tom Crockrel's home page. 2. Robert C. and Sherry Stancliff
    3. Hi Karlene, The following is what we know of John and Ann (Skuse] Adamson. Bob and Sherry Stancliff, Cincinnati, OH - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ The first man of the name ADAMSON that we can identify as being one of our ancestors was John Adamson, a Quaker of NJ and PA. He was said to have been born in England and travelled to this land as a follower of William Penn.. (1) JOHN1 ADAMSON The first record of John Adamson is in the records of the Newton Monthly Meeting of Friends. Newton Meeting was located in, West Collingswood, Gloucester County, (now Camden County) New Jersey. JOHN ADAMSON and ANN SKUCE declared intention of marriage at the meeting in February 1715/16. The Newton Meeting became the Haddonfield Meeting in 1721, moving to a new Meeting house two or three miles away. May 31, 1726 John, Ann and four children took a certificate from the Haddonfield Meeting to the Gwynedd Meeting at Springfield, Bucks County PA. Ann was reported dead 7mo, 25, 1733 leaving a nursing infant (Simon). Conversion of that date to the Gregorian calendar puts the date at Oct. 6, 1733. John deeded his land to son Thomas in 1753 and probably lived with his son's family for the remainder of his years. John was a member of the Richland MM as early as 1692, having come from England to Quakertown, Bucks Co. PA 1691. Another source indicates that he came with his brother Basil in that year. It is reported that after the death of his wife, Ann, the folks in this Quaker community "The Swamp Friends" of the Gwynedd Monthly Meeting donated 40 shillings to provide John's nursing infant with a wetnurse. This child was Simon Adamson. CHILDREN:John Adamson and Ann Skuse/Skew 1. THOMAS ADAMSON born Feb. 23, 1717/18 near Haddonfield, NJ., married Bucks County, PA about 1738 MARY BURSON daughter of Joseph and Racheal [Potts] Burson. 2. 3. Denisse, Thanks for this info. Its interesting, I have seen the name spelled about 3 different ways. Skuce, Skew, Skute. My line also goes from Thomas Jr then to James Adamson/Margaret Smith to Thomas Adamson/Minervia Williams to Benjamin Adamson/Elizabeth Wood to James Adamson/Axie Adell Mannen who were my grandparents. With 3 Thomas's and 2 James's in my ancestry I think it's interesting that we named our two sons James and Thomas. That was way before I knew anything about my Adamson background past my grandfather. I have Thomas Adamson, who was married to Mary Burson and father of our Thomas Jr, as being born in 1717. If John was born in 1702 that makes him a pretty young father, I guess not impossible though. Also we have a Scotsman marrying a Swede, I'll bet that caused a stir. This ancestry thing is addictive, the more you know the more you want to know. Thanks again Karlene Svaty >From: DLGoulart@aol.com >To: karlenesvaty@hotmail.com >Subject: John Adamson & Ann Skute >Date: Mon, 21 Feb 2000 23:40:23 EST > >Karlene. > > I saw your interest in John Adamson and Ann Skute, We have just found >some info on Ann's father, Sven 'Skute' on my-ged.com, and from there I >have >read numerous books on the Swedes in Delaware and the Delaware beginings. >Sven is mentioned frequently. 3. Good evening Katie: We may have a connection. My Samuel Adamson md Naomi Lamb dau of Henry Lamb and Ann Dennis. Henry Lamb and Ann Dennis (according to Marshal Styles writting the Lamb Book) had 4 children to marry Adamson's and two marry Swaims/....Thomas ,Edward ,Joseph and Naomi md Adamsons. My Samuel was born in 1785 was your Lydia a twin? My Samuel and Naomi had a set of twins. Somewhere in my records I have a notation that Henry Lamb's children married children of Enos Adamsoncan't find it right now, might be worth checking out. My Samuel and Naomi Lamb Adamson had a dau Lydia b 1820 . This family had a Delilah, Thomas,Elizabeth,as well as the Lydia, the same as Henry and Ann Lamb. I can only guess Naomi named her children after her bro's and sisters. I don't know my Samuel's father's or siblings names, so can't help. I will put your printout in my Adamson /Lamb file, let you know if I find your Lydia. 3. Hi Cousin Donna, I am also descended from Jacob Adamson and Ruth Covey. Our line goes back to John Adamson of Bucks county PA and Ann Skuce who declared intention of marriage Feb. 1715/1716. They were Quakers. Their seventh child was Simon Adamson born 1733 in Springfield, Bucks County, PA died 1810-1820 Jefferson County, TN. Friends Records indicate that Simon married "out of unity" 2 mo, 1758 and left the county. He did not go directly to Tennessee at that time, but instead to North Carolina. We do not know the name of his first wife. He married 2. ELEANOR [____] The third child of Simon and his first wife was Simon Adamson Jr. born 1763 in North Carolina, died Feb. or Mar. 1814 in Jefferson County, TN, probably buried Rock Valley Cemetery, Jefferson County, TN, married 1789 Randolph County, NC ELEANOR ROUTH daughter of Jacob and Martha [Redfern] Routh born 1769 in what is now Randolph County, NC, died after 1860 Collin County, TX at the home of her grandson Jacob Wilson. She is probably buried Collin County, TX, though a search in 1997 did not reveal a stone in any of the cemeteries in the Weston, TX area. The fifth child of Simon and Eleanor [Routh] Adamson Jr. was Jacob Adamson born TN about 1798, married 1. Samuel Covey was a Revolutionary War soldier who among other battles took part in the Battle of Kings Mountain, SC said to be the turning point in the south. In the Census records of 1850 Jacob Adamson lived next to son Samuel Adamson and only a few houses away from son Eliphalet Kelsey Adamson who was living next to Jacob's brothers Larkin and Levi Adamson. The second child of Jacob and Ruth [Covey] Adamson was Elizabeth Adamson born Jefferson County, TN 1820, married Ray County, MO, her cousin, PERRY BALES son of William and Elizabeth [Adamson] Bales, born TN 1814.
