Specifically, I am looking for information regarding a John Adams, born on a small farm in 1773 at or near Londonderry, N. Ireland. I suspect of Scots decent due to the Presbyterian belief. Apparently, John Adams became a partner in the Clendining & McLaren, Irish trading house, of New York City in 1798 and the firm changed to Clendining and Adams. He even managed to marry the boss's daughter, Ann Glover, daughter of James G. Glover. Consequently, John and Ann's first son is named John G. Adams, born in early 1800s. He attended medical school in early 1820s but, I believe did not practice medicine. It seems as though he became a partner in a law firm or a merchant firm? John Adams, born 1773 in Londonderry is the brother of my GGGGrandmother Margaret Adams, who was also born in Londonderry, Ireland, in 1770. Further, records show that John Knox and wife, Margaret Adams de! parted Londonderry, N. Ireland on the ship Pocohantas in 1818 arriving in Philadelphia, PA with large family settling in Lebanon, Ohio. John Knox was born 1759 in Strabane, County Tyrone, N. Ireland. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
