Unfortunately, I am unable to find ANYTHING on HIS life specifically. You mentioned he is a very famous historical person in Patrick County, so I assumed I could google his name with Patrick County, Virginia and find newspaper articles, or perhaps access to records, but I have not been successful. I live in a western state, so do not have access to visit Virginia - am wondering, is this the only access to the records you mentioned? Or am I just not understanding how to search google correctly?
