Marilyn Some of your names, places, and dates, are close enough for me to share some info I have from my own research. I have a James Adams who supposedly worked on the National Road from Washington, PA through Wheeling, WV in the 1840-1850s. I don't know his parentage either, or if he had siblings, but the names Sarah, Cora, Ruth, Jane, James, William, repeat a lot among my own Adams and I noticed some of these names in your posting. I realize they were common names, but my ADAMS did use names over and over again. My Adams also resided VERY near Belmont, Co, as they lived in Monroe County right near the Belmont County line for many years as evidenced on the census. My James Adams was from Ireland. Please let me know if you would like to explore further. Sue Adams Diaz
Response to Sue Adams Diaz, Sue I just responed to Marilyn also on our possible Adams connection. I won't repeat it here, but you mentioned James Adams living in Monroe Co. IN and working on the railroad in Wheeling WVA. My JOHN ADAMS b 1802 as you will see had a son, WILLIAM RILEY ADAMS that supposedly died in Wheeling WVA, but don't believe he did because he is buried in Monroe Co. IN. He had a brother JAMES H. born abt 1828. Of course my JAMES wasn't from Ireland, but born in Monroe Co. IN.
