    3. This is a note I sent to the Bass mailing list, but thought it might be of interest to someone from the Adams list as well... Especially if anyone is also a fan of Sam Adams or Bass Ale! "While exploring my Adams line (Massachusetts) I discovered quite a few Bass family members from England and Duxbury or Braintree, MA had married into the Adams line, or vice versa. One of "my" Adams was Samuel Adams, sometimes called the Patriot Brewer, the namesake of the Sam Adams line of beers that are popular now. I couldn't help but wonder if any of the Bass line was related to the Bass Ale brewery. From what I've seen, Samuel Bass, ca. 1600 and Anne Saville or Savil are the English ancestors, with son John Bass and Ruth Alden (of the Mayflower family), whose daughter Hannah Bass married Joseph Adams in Braintree, MA. There are other Bass siblings who also married Adams, but Hannah appears to be the earliest. The Brewery line starts with William Bass, b. 1720, followed by son Michael Thomas, and grandsons Michael and Hamar. I'm wondering if anyone knows William's ancestry, and whether or not he is related to Samuel and Anne Bass. It would be an interesting coincidence to have the two "beer lines" connected, or perhaps it's not as much a coincidence as it might appear! The Patriot Brewer Samuel Adams was born in 1722. So, it would seem he is a contemporary of William Bass, the founder of the Bass Ale brewery, albeit there was an ocean between them! Cheers!" 2. In response to Gary Richardson's mail about an Adams/Bass connection. I don't know if or how my Adams are related to the Bass', but it has always seemed to me that there was mention of being related to the Bass'. I do have a huge old Bible that my mom and dad had. I don't know how, when or why they got it, but their was a marriage certificate in it for David J. Bass and Ella C. Faulkner at Fair Grove, 24th of December 1888. They did enter their marriage in the book and it was signed by Jono. F. Williams. It was presented to David & Ella, by Sampson Bass January 31, 1892. They never filled in the genealogy chart and there is a place in the back for photographs and their were none. There is a note in the back "Baby Jean, page 711, but there is nothing there. There is also a pressed corsage in it. My mother was an Adams. 3. There were 3 marriages of Bass and Adams families, but 200 years earlier. Joseph Adams, Jr.; Abigail Adams and Mary G. Adams, all children of Joseph Adams, Sr and Abigail Baxter, married respectively Hannah Bass, John Bass, Jr. and Samuel Bass, children of John Bass and Ruth Alden (of Mayflower descent) in the late 1600's. Since neither Bass Ale nor Sam Adams founders were born at the time, one would have to assume they drank something else at the weddings...
