    3. Joann? You mention that James died in 1992 in Okla.? Have you sent off for a copy of his death certificate? If not, you should as that can give you some more info. also if you know where he was buried you can contact the funeral home and the cemetery & request the files for him & that sometimes can contain some very useful/helpful info. Also if you know of any of the places that he was married & when he was married you can also get the marriage records (if you haven't already) Have you traced him thru census records yet? He might have been listed in them by his nickname at some point. I have a relative (Non-Adams) that is James Jefferson.....he went by Jeff or James in various census years. Was always fun to find him. Also he might have also went by Stewart or by initials. 3. Ali, Thanks for the advice. In 1952 he married my mother in Topeka, Kansas and know where he was after that time. It's the time befor that I would like to get to know. I don't know who his first wife was or the second one which ever had the 2 kids he had. Supposedly father was Kenneth S. Adams mother was Ruth Ann Campbell he was said to have been born in Detroit, Michigan. But through federal census I can't locate anyone with those names.... I sent off for a birth certificate over 8 months ago and have yet to hear anything..... I know in Topeka he was called RED and even when he moved to Ok, where he lived for over 30 years he was also know as RED... No one in OK. even knew he had been married more than twice or had any kids..... 3. Do you by chance have a copy of your parents' marriage license? Was he by chance in the Military at all? If he was there's a slim chance that you can send off for his pension records (which can take some time to get if they moved around any...it took 9-10 mos. for me to get a copy of my great grandfather's & they ended up coming from my state's VA instead of where he lived or enlisted) & there 'MIGHT' be a copy of any prior marriages or divorces. I got lucky & had this info. in my great grandfather's pension record (along w/his health records) he had been married once before & had 2 kids, none of the kids or grandkids knew about this except for one of the oldest boys from his second marriage....unfortunately he didn't pass any of the info. on (that anyone will fess up to sharing w/me). If you knew whether he lived in ks. prior to marrying your mom you might (if you haven't already) search for any prior marriages or divorces or try social Security to find about his prior wives. I know that if a man has been married for at least 10 yrs before divorces his x can draw off of his social security even if he remarries. Maybe going thru tax records, property liens & social security records could be an avenue to try if you haven't already?
