It is quite possible the Elizabeth S. you are wondering about is Susan. Just the other day I found a census for my grandmother who I had always known as Nora with a middle name of Elizabeth. Guess what! In her parents house she was listed as Elizabeth N. Adams. Remember the times. If you didn't like the name you had you could easily go by your middle name or change it completly. Who was to know. You didn't have all the red tape to go through you do now. I have also seen the same woman in repeating census lose as much as 12 years off of her age. My husbands grandmother refused to tell any one the year she was born. Ever. They didn't even know her true age when they buried her to put on her gravestone. But Social Security knew. I suspect her reason's started as vanity. She was much younger than her husband. Later as I am finding now, if people know your age they treat you as old. Perhaps you can find a marriage bond or certificate with a witness who was her mother or brother.
