    1. Re: Adams family--Jesse Adams?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Adams, Porter, Brown, Postema Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CI.2ADEB/4058.4117.4125 Message Board Post: I'm picking up on an older thread to try to clarify some things about the father of my grandpa's stepmother. His name was Jesse ADAMS, and he was married to Susan PORTER in 1876, according to information I found on the KYGenWeb site for Elliott Co. He married at age 19, so he would have been born around 1857. Susan Porter was born around 1859, according to 1870 census information for Elliott Co. transcribed to the Web. Jesse and Susan Adams' daughter was Lula Belle Adams. She first married Wallace BROWN and then after he died she married my grandfather, John Henry POSTEMA, who was born as Jan Hendrik Postema in the Netherlands. 1880 census information that was sent to me by Charles Barker also lists a Jessee Adams, age 23 (so born abt 1857), with a daughter named Lula, age 2. Since we know that Lula Belle Adams was born in 1877, this makes sense. However, the spouse's name is given as "Elizabeth S." age 19 (so born abt 1861). While there isn't a huge gap between 1859 and 1861, and "S." in "Elizabeth S." might be a middle name of Susan, it seems a stretch to assume these are the same woman, without more information. I've learned quite a bit about a Jesse Adams who was the son of Pleasant Adams, much of this information coming from postings to the RootsWeb boards for Carter Co. However, that Jesse Adams seems to be a different person--he's older (b. 1842), and married to someone else. I understand that Pleasant Adams had at least one or two brothers. Could the Jesse Adams I'm looking for be Pleasant's nephew? Or am I just looking in the wrong places completely? So far I've found nothing about "my" Jesse Adams' parents, after quite a bit of looking, but I'm really curious to know more. Any and all information would be welcome--thank you!
