I have worked mostly from Internet sources and from Appanoose County records. Some of the Adams family relationships are hard to understand, and sometimes two people shared the same first and last names. All the data you posted matched what I have put together, so I am happy about that much. I have traced Isaac and Absalom back for two more generations, but my documentation is thin, and I hesitate to post something that might be accepted at history. E-mail me privately if you want this possible ancestry data. I have seen Gilley's grave in the Motto/Cooley Cemetery. As I remember, her stone and hard to read. Hunters use the cemetery as a gathering point, and it is in a terrible condition. Sarah Ellen Adams' first husband was Charles A. Stephens His military career was very brief; he was wounded in Arkansas on October 14, 1862, and "died in Regiment's Hospital October 15, 1862, of wounds" (Service record). I think that after her first husabnd was killed, Sarah E. Adams married her second cousin who was Elias Moss Fox. Elias was my mother's greatuncle. Elias was a very colorful figure. Do your records mention him? Thank you for your posting. I have not worked in the Adams section of my records for some time and I am glad to revisit them and check them.
