He was born on April 21, 1924, the son of John Sherman Adams and Bessie (Dutton) Adams. On Sept. 19, 1942, he married Marie Bostic in Pikeville, Ky., and she preceded him in death on Dec. 4, 1997. Walter worked for N & W Coal Mines for 19 years and at Continental Steel for 27 years as an electrical repairman. He served honorably in the Army during World War II and was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with five bronze Stars. He was a member of Woodland Church of God and enjoyed reading his bible. He liked to travel, and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his five children, Walter Gene Adams and his wife, Carolyn, Kokomo, Cheryl Boyd and her husband, Robert, Kokomo, Quinna Adams and her husband, Jeffery, Kokomo, Mona Dedrow and her husband, Steven, Kokomo, and Brian Adams and his wife Julie, Russiaville; 12 grandchildren, Michael Adams and his wife, Sheri, Todd Adams and his wife, Jessica, Kevin Boyd and his wife, Holly, Paige Martin and her husband, Joshua, Jeffery Neal Adams and his wife, Mary, Christina Adams, Cherilynn Nedrow, Nicole Nedrow, Parker Adams, Alexia Adams, Hanna Adams, and Shay Adams; two stepgrandchildren, Jeffrey Miller and his wife, Sherie and Greg Miller and his wife, Jayne; five great-grandchildren, Sophia Adams, Noland Adams, Morgan Martin, Ella Martin and Cameron Adams; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Steven Miller, Allison Miller and Garrett Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Ella Faye Adams; brother, Valters Adams; half brother, Burley Adams; half sisters, Gerri Millard and Mary Bentley; and his stepmother Edna Mae Adams. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with military rites being conducted by the Kokomo Military Rites Team. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
