He was born abt. 1840 in VA. He was married to Mary Halbert (Holbert). I have found him as early as 1870 census but have been unable to find parents or further records. I know he fought in the Civil War. And the census records states that his father was born in PA and his mother was born in VA. The family has stated several times that we are some way related to Pres. Adams, but that has been unable to prove. any help would be appreciated.
