He was born April 9, 1922, in Wilmington, N.Y., the son of George and Anna (LaBombard) Adams. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II (1942-1945) in Panama, France and Germany. He married his wife, Alice (McDonald) Adams, in 1942 in Jay, N.Y. He worked for Ward Lumber, JJ Rogers Company, AuSabIe Dairy and BayView Dairy in Plattsburgh and after his retirement, he worked part time for the U.S. Post Office in Jay. He enjoyed bowling at Riverside Lanes and playing horseshoes behind Art's Village Inn. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice Adams of Jay; two sons and daughters-in-law, two daughters and one son-in-law, Ralph and Arlie Adams of Jay, N.Y., Eric and Elaine Adams of Newfield, N.Y., Leona Crowningshield of Keene, N.Y. and Madeline and Gary Senecal of Keeseville, N.Y. He was the much adored and admired grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who were blessed by being part of his life. Everywhere he went, he captured the hearts of those near him with his smile. He will be sadly missed by his family and all those who were fortunate enough to have shared in his life. He is predeceased by his parents; and five brothers and one sister, Gerald, Lloyd, Fred, Donald, Nobel and Irene Sprague. At the family's request there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 1529 Cedar Ave., Montreal, Quebec, Canada H3G1A6. Zaumetzer-Sprague Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
