    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Adams, Galloway, Cannon Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CI.2ADEB/9158.3.2.1.3 Message Board Post: Hi. I am descended from Bledsoe Adams and Lucinda Cannon. I once thought he had to be the son of John Adams and Elizabeth Bledsoe. Now I realize that there were Land grants given to Adams men in Christian County as early as the eastern part was developing. 4 land grants were given to Adams men before 1800 and several more were given in the 9 to 10 years following. So while it is possible that he is John Adams son of Clark County it is also possible he is the son of the two John Adams, William, Nathan, Jessie and a couple of others that were settleing in Christian County. I have since separated him from John Adams and Elizabeth Bledsoe in my family tree. Keeping John Adams information of course. Incidently Bledsoe and Lucinda's marriage bond are availabe at the Christian Co, Ky courthouse as well a deed from when he borrowed money from Richard Cannon and Bledsoe put up 1 sorrel horse with stallian with left I out. (Their spelling) He borrowed $36.71 due to be paid b! ack within one year. Richard is surely related to Lucinda and is on the 1850 census just a couple of pages before. Bledsoe's name was mangled in that census. It came out Bledsoer Adams I think. A Phebe Cannon age 78 who was born in North Carolina is living with them. Lucinda was only 26 and 78 seems old to be her mother but possibly a grandmother? George and Phebe Cannon had a son George Cannon who can be found living the page before Bledsoe in the 1860 census in Rumsey, Ky. I was also interested to notice that there are Bledsoe's listed in Christian Co, Census as well I think as Rumsey, Ky. They have to be all tied togather but I am no longer sure the father son link is valid between John Adams of Clark Co, and Bledsoe Adams who married in Christian Co. My biggest riddle at the moment is where he met Lucinda at? She was born in Tn according to the Census. Bledsoe was a wagonner from Hopkinsville to Clarksville, Tn for a number of years. I haven't been able to pin down where she was living at yet. I would also like to know exactly when she died. There is mention by Foster that she died soon before he joined the Union Army. She was still alive in the 1860 census and by the way that census includes my great grandfather Elijah who is not listed on the printed index but when looking at the actual census he is on the next page at the top of it. Just a few months old and clearly not of the family that is listed just after him. Foster joined in 1861.

    3. Your Adams folks didn't meander on down to Alabama, did they? I'm trying to find out where my Larkin Bledsole (or Bledsoe) Adams got his name. His father, Wade Hampton Adams (born in 1821) supposedly left home in South Carolina with two other brothers at a young age and ended up in Pike County, Alabama. But, I can't even find him in 1850 in Pike County. I think they moved around a lot because they were in the moonshine business.
