If they were here in 1880, they were likely around Virginia City or maybe Ennis, both in Madison County. If they were there, they likely were gold miners or in trade to supply the miners. There is a book which might name them. It is Vigilantes of Montana and is authored by a Dimsdale. I don't think it is print now but most libraries would have access on interlibrary loan. I used to have a copy but books have a way of diappearing. Doyle
