    1. Emily E. Adams - Dallas County, Texas
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Adams, Briggs, Nichols Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CI.2ADEB/9282 Message Board Post: What Happened To Emily? Serena Briggs Nichols Adams and her second husband (and first cousin), Lewis Absolom Adams, had five children: William Austin Adams Emily E. Adams Samuel Augustus (Gus) Adams Aribell Amelia Adams Jackson A. Adams I have knowledge of four of these children’s lives, but Aunt Emily remains a mystery. She was born in April 1886, probably in either Collin or Dallas County, Texas. In 1900, she is found as a fourteen-year-old school girl living with her parents in Collin County. In 1910 she is in Dallas County still living with her parents. No census record has been found for the family in 1920, but we do know that Serena and Lewis were separated before her death in 1923. Lewis lived until 1931. It is quite conceivable that Emily married after 1910 and that we simply do not know who she married. The early marriage records of Dallas County do not reveal her marriage. In my portion of the family at least, there was no discussion of Aunt Emily, so I suspect she may have died as a young woman and possibly never married. She is not buried (under the name Adams) in the Mills Cemetery in Garland, Texas, where her mother was buried in 1923. There is no death record recorded in Dallas County between 1910 and 1920 for an Emily Adams who might be Aunt Emily. If anyone knows what happened to my great-aunt Emily or has any research suggestions, please let me know.
