Bill, I have a James W. Adams, s/o Lawrence Mansfield and his 1st wife Harriet Ann (Nancy) Hunt, m 14 Nov 1826 in Elbert County, GA. he was b 1836 according to the 1850 census. I do not have a wife for him, or any children. The Crawfords are intermarried with my Adams, though. The parents of Lawrence M. Adams were William Adams and his 1st wife, Catherine Mansfield, according to my records. The parents of William Adams were James Adams, Jr. & Jane (Jenny) Cunningham. His parents were James Adams, Sr & Cecily Ford. This is my line through their son Thomas. The Crawford connection goes like this; Heneritta (Ritta) Haley married first John Crawford and after his death she married Thomas Ford Adams. Do you know the parents were of Frances Crawford who married James W. Adams? Grace S. Green
Grace, Really appreciate the information on James W. Adams parents. I have a copy of the will of Lawrence Manfield Adams in which he left property to his son James W. I was unable to verify that these were the same guys since the names seemed to be repeated in each generation. James W. married Frances Ann Crawford in 1849. After the 1880 census, I hit a cold trail on Frances. I do have one prospect for the parents of Frances Crawford. In the 1860 census, James W. and Frances were in Dist. 404 of Gwinnett Co. Georgia. Burton E. Crawford, age 49, and Lucy Crawford, age 48, were living next door. Hope this opens some doors for you. Bill Adams
