They arrived here in mid-October, 1850 overwintering in other places, (one mentioned Cornelius, Oregon) before going to their claims in Myrtle Creek, Douglas County in July, 1851. Together, their claims came to 3,200 acres. John Adams, born Botetourt County, Virginia - 1774 (according to his land claim) - single, but father to John, Jr. (1809 - TN) and Henry (1828 - TN).
