Earliest details are as follows:- The first two John ADAMS and William ADAMS, are not 100% confirmed, however appear at present to be the most likely father and Grandfather of Henry William ADAMS b 1831. John ADAMS born abt. 1788 in Clogher, County Tyrone, joined the British Royal Artillery in about 1810. William ADAMS born abt. 1810 Clogher, County Tyrone, joined the British Royal Artillery 1826 in Omagh at the age of 17 years. ************************************************************ Henry (William) ADAMS b. 1831 in Ireland, married an Ann Jane McKee in 1853. Henry was an engine driver on steam paddleboats operating on the River Thames. Henry's father William ADAMS was a soldier at the time of their marriage and Ann's father was Alexander McKEE also born in Ireland 1794 and a pensioner in the Royal Artillery living in the Woolwich Arsenal, he died 8th. November 1871 in Woolwich. Henry Adams died before 1891 and Ann died 14th. January 1900 in Woolwich. Henry and Ann had five sons, Alexander, George, Reuben, Charles and William Joseph and two daughters Jane and Ellen. The family was living in Globe Lane in the "Dust Hole" of Woolwich in 1871. The sons were nearly all Watermen & Lightermen. George ADAMS married an Ann Letitia HUSSEY and finally became a Captain on the Woolwich Ferry around the turn of the century. They eventually lived in Plumstead, Genesta Road where he died on 26th May 1926. Ann died 19th. Febuary 1946. Alexander ADAMS married Elizabeth Mary HUSSEY, Ann HUSSEY's sister and they continued to live in Woolwich in Paradise Place, until Alexander died between 1881-1891, and Elizabeth died around 1930. Charles ADAMS moved north of the River Thames between 1891-1901 and settled in the "East End" of London around the West Ham area, and married Alexandra Mathilda ALVAREZ. Charles died 10th. March 1938 and Alexandra on 2nd. May 1950. The descendants of Charles remained in the area until they lost their homes as a result of air raids during WWII and finally moved to the Hadleigh/Southend, Essex area where they are located today. Thanks for any help you can give. Regards Terry ADAMS Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
