Nicolas was of Dutch descent - his family gradually relocated further and further north from thru the generations - first immigrant was in Nieuw Amsterdam. Nicolas born about 1744. Much travel in early days on Lake Champlain - thus easy to understand family marriages, etc; Benson, Vt - West Haven, Vt Hampton, and Essex County, NY - will connect up via email.
