I am trying to find info. concerning the Adams family from Albany New York. I know there was a father, by the name of John Quincy Adams, of Irish descent. I don't know if he was born in Ireland or in New York. I think his wife's name might have been Margaret. I do know that they had at least 4 sons; William Adams b.abt.1800, James Adams b. Dec. 1, 1801, Calvin Winslow Adams b. June 15, 1806 and Reuben Adams b. abt 1808. There is mention of a Catharine B. Adams death, May 17, 1842 in a family bible. There are differing reports of where these sons were born on the Canadian census. Some say Ireland and some say New York. Prior to 1830, the sons left Albany, New York and came to Malahide Township, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada. They remained here and are buried in the Aylmer Cemetery. James was a tailor upon his arrival but afterward bought 3 farms. All the sons owned one or more farms each in this area. Their names are often noted with Esquire on the cens! us. I cannot find anything more about their parents in New York and there is no mention of them here. I did come across a John Adams who was born abt.1773 in Ireland and was a bank manager in New York and was buried in Astoria. I know that James Adams was very business oriented and loaned money to neighbouring people to buy land. His ledgers were quite detailed and he seemed to be the business person of the family. There is also mention of a William T. Adams as being an author and I have a copy of his book written in the mid 1800's but I don't know if he is one of the sons. There just seems to be so little info. on any Irish Adams' from New York area and wondered if there is a connection between yours and mine.
