    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JohnDulin51 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/15263.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: At this time I do not have any confirmation on the parentage of David F. Adams Sr. The search, as yet, remains inconclusive on Elizabeth (Ward) Adams as being the wife of David F. Adams Sr. The alleged source for this allegation is as yet unproven. If however, it is correct, then the place to search your Adams ancestry will lie in Edgefield County, South Carolina. ELIZABETH WARD Research submitted by Melanie Diane Ward - Whitney indicates that, " Based on census records Christopher and Catherine had more than three daughters, but am not sure what their names were...Additional daughters not listed may be married to some of the men that received property from Christopher's estate." Melanie subjects from her list of Christopher and Catherine Ward's children that the third daughter was named Elizabeth Ward. I had also noted that to the best of my knowledge, having examined census returns, that Christoper and Catherine had an one other daughter who was unknown to me to which I had presumed had died young. Evidence is submitted here as related by both Melanie Ward Whitney and by further research investigated by me that this heretofore unknown daughter was is all probablilty, Elizabeth Ward who had married an Adams. In the estate papers of Christoper Ward Sr. there is no specific entries that name his children. Their names are determined by: (1) the names of males as they appear in the estate sales of property from Christopher's estate which was filed for probate in 1833; and (2) cross referencing the names of Ward girls in Henry County, Alabama marriage records who married men who's names also appear within the estate sales of property belong the Christopher Ward. This list included that name of one William Adams. It also contains the name of W. Corkoroft. The Corkoroft name also appears along with Christopher Ward in the early Edgefield District census returns. In the estate papers of Catherine Ward, which were filed for probate in Henry County Orphans Court Record Book "D", beginning on page 27, the name of David F. Adams appears petitioning the court to be appointed as the administrator to Catherine's estate. Since Christopher and Catherine Ward left at least living children at the time of their death, and their estates were not insolvent, it would seem reasonable that any party petitionig the court to administer Catherine's estate would be related; either as one of their children, or the spouse to one of their children. In the Genealogy available on the internet for David Fanning Adams Sr., is cites his wife as named Elizabeth, but with no definite documentation as to her maiden name. At least some postings appear that her maiden name was Boles. At least two sons of David Sr. and his wife Elizabeth have been confirmed: (1) David Fanning Adams Jr. who is a posted message on ancestry.com-message boards was married to Margaret Ann Satcher and had as their second child a son named Joe Jefferson Adams who it is reported was born circa 1835, in Henry County, Alabama. The second son: (2) James W. Adams, who is shown residing next to his parents on the 1850 Covington County, Alabama census, was married on October 2, 1828, in Henry County, Alabama to Christina Sapp. The 1850 Covington County, Alabama census list David F. Adams Sr. as 66, thus born circa 1784; and his wife Elizabeth as aged 62, born in South Carolina; thus born circa 1788, which would be appropriate for being a daughter of Christopher and Catherine Ward.
