This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: cedeez69 Surnames: Adams Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/15260/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for the ancestors and parents and wife of Nicholas (Ap) Adams, who was born about 1150 in Scotland and died somewhere in Scotland. I have seen several people post that Nicholas' last name was Ap Adams, but when I have asked them for proof they can't seem to offer me any concrete proof, so I am wondering if someone out there has any CONCRETE prof of the (Ap) part of the name? Also I am loking for the parents, wife and ancestors of Nicholas. I know that he had a son by name of Reynold Adams, and he was born about 1170 also in Scotland and died somewhere in Scotland. If anyone happens to have any information about Nicholas, I would really like to exchange information with you? In Welsh patronymic nomenclature, "ab" is usually used with names beginning with a vowel, as in "ab Adams". Both forms, ab and ap, signify "son of". -R.
