NC and VA. Have you done any DNA? Our James Adams was born abt 1799 (according to his kids census), in TN. Of course TN was not a state yet so it would actually have been NC. He married Catherine Thomas b. abt 1801 in NC. We have not determined if that was really her maiden name but think it was. They went in 1837 from KY up through the Gap to Ray County MO. They called their new home Buncombe but changed it soon to Knoxville which it still is to this day.I have the book that tells of the wagon train they went on. It says they went with Yoakum, VanBibber, Kincaid,Thomas, McGlothlin, and Adams. My hubby did DNA and only tied in with one James Asa Adams line from NC. If I remember correctly James Asa was born abt 1830 in Forcythe or Alamance counties in NC. Just across the NC border from VA. There are a lot of this line there still. THe DNA match lives in VA.His name is Van Adams and his sister is Bea Adams King. Our James had his first son abt 1824 in NC and named him John Quincy, then Samuel Madison, Thomas Jefferson,Barsheba, Henry Clay, Cleopatra Anne, Benjamin Franklin and several others. 5 were born in NC the rest in MO. Just curious... Rose Adams in CA. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
