He was born abt. 1808, near Albany New York state. He along with his brothers, James (1801 - 1885), William (abt. 1800 - 1891), and Calvin Winslow (1806 - 1885) came to Elgin County prior to 1833. Reuben married Mary Jane Little November 8, 1837. She was born Jan. 27, 1819 and died July 14, 1900. Reuben died February 20, 1883. They both died in South Dorchester Township but are buried in the Aylmer Cemetery. On Tremaine's Map from 1864 it states an R. Adams as having land in Malahide Township, concession 9 lot 02 West 1/2 and also Reuben Adams owning land in South Dorchester Concession 12, Lot 15 East 1/2. Both Reuben and his wife, Mary Jane remained in South Dorchester until their death. As for children I am not sure; these are possible: Margaret C. Adams (b.abt. 1838) m Jehiel M. Davis, Martha N. Adams (b. abt.1844) Thomas L. Adams (b. abt. 1846) Helen Jane Adams (b. abt. 1848) William F. Adams (b. abt. 1847) Elias J. Adams (b. abt. 1852) These are other Reuben Adams' that I have come across: Reuben Adams d. May 17, 1915 Dutton area Reuben Summers Adams s/o Francis W. Adams & Ida F. Summers b. Sept. 30, 1882 South Dorchester, Elgin County Reuben Adams b.1853 s/o Reuben Adams & Maria m. April 12, 1875 Strathroy, Middlesex, Ont. Eliza Badge b. 1850 d/o George and Elizabeth Badge. I am finding the Adams' very difficult to unravel to say the least! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
