He was born abt. 1808, near Albany New York state. He along with his brothers, James (1801 - 1885), William (abt. 1800 - 1891), and Calvin Winslow (1806 - 1885) came to Elgin County prior to 1833. Reuben married Mary Jane Little November 8, 1837. She was born Jan. 27, 1819 and died July 14, 1900. Reuben died February 20, 1883. They both died in South Dorchester Township but are buried in the Aylmer Cemetery. On Tremaine's Map from 1864 it states an R. Adams as having land in Malahide Township, concession 9 lot 02 West 1/2 and also Reuben Adams owning land in South Dorchester Concession 12, Lot 15 East 1/2. Both Reuben and his wife, Mary Jane remained in South Dorchester until their death. As for children I am not sure; these are possible: Margaret C. Adams (b.abt. 1838) m Jehiel M. Davis, Martha N. Adams (b. abt.1844) Thomas L. Adams (b. abt. 1846) Helen Jane Adams (b. abt. 1848) William F. Adams (b. abt. 1847) Elias J. Adams (b. abt. 1852) These are other Reuben Adams' that I have come across: Reuben Adams d. May 17, 1915 Dutton area Reuben Summers Adams s/o Francis W. Adams & Ida F. Summers b. Sept. 30, 1882 South Dorchester, Elgin County Reuben Adams b.1853 s/o Reuben Adams & Maria m. April 12, 1875 Strathroy, Middlesex, Ont. Eliza Badge b. 1850 d/o George and Elizabeth Badge. 1. [ADAMS] WASHINGTON ADAMS PARENTAGE AND ANCESTORS.
    2. Perry Adams
    3. I am trying this again. I am looking to connect my Washington Adams (1811-1863) with his proper parentage and ancestors. An Aunt, no longer living, claimed that our Washington Adams descends from the John Adams family or at least connected to that family. My Washington was born in Ohio in 1811. I do not know where in Ohio but this information came from several census years. However, in 1832 Washington married Laura Hill in Lagrange county IN. Laura was the daughter of Dr. Moses Hill and his wife Betsey Winslow. Washington and Laura had 3 children. Mary J., Martha, and Moses I. Adams. Prior to 1861 Washington moved his family to Mt Carroll IL where in 1861 daughter Mary J married Andrew Jackson Christian. In 1863 Washington passed away. Later, son Moses I moved to Iowa. Living nearby Washington and Laura in the 1840 census was a family of John Adams who may have been Washington’s parents or at least related to him. This John Adams family lived in Michigan and may have lived in Ohio around 1811 before moving to Lagrange IN. John and his wife had a large family and some of them moved to Muscatine county Iowa around 1837. Washington’s son, Moses I Adams moved there as well from Mt Carroll, IL. With all of this, I hope some Adams family researcher can add information that will confirm and add to the information I have on this family. Thank you for your help. Author: chorn50 Surnames: Harllee, Adams Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/6615.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Meloney,   As you suggested, I've been searching the web for Elias Adams and Ellen Harllee or Harlbbee and they do NOT look promising for the parents of Needham and Wade Hampton.  In fact, they seem to have had a son called William H. Adams who lived in Pike county, Alabama.  I have done research into Pike county and did come across someone of that name.   In reviewing what people have on the web for Elias and Ellen, I didn't find any information about that couple having a son called Wade Hampton and only one person out of several who gave  the name of Needham for one of their children.  Unfortunately, that person did not list any sources for that information.   So, I'm rather skeptical of Elias Adams and Ellen Harllee for the parents for Wade Hampton and Needham.   Cathy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This is all I have on the origin of my surname. I believe they were born in Friesland, in the Netherlands. I did find a record for the birth of a Jacobus Adams in 1797 to an Adam Peifer (Pfeifer?) and Johana Jacobus, in Leeuwarden, Friesland, Netherlands, before the 1811 surname law there, when one took the father's first name to be his/her last name. But I have no link to corroborate that this is indeed my Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather. Any help would be greatly appreciated! It's a shame your Jack wasn't born soon enough to be on the WWI pensions records. You might have found a birthplace listed there. I did find his Social Security Record. Jack C Adams Home in 1930: Aurora, Kane, Illinois View Map Age: 24 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1906 Birthplace: Pennsylvania Father birthplace Pennsylvania Relation to Head of House: Lodger Race: White Occupation: Education: Military Service: Rent/home value: Age at first marriage: Parents' birthplace: View image Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Gertrude Jungels 43 Alton J Jungels 22 Pearl M Jungels 16 Kenneth L Wood 22 Jack C Adams 24 Philip T Hazelett 21 You will notice it lists him as born in Pennsylvania and father also born in Pennsylvania. If you know that he was in the service during WWII you might find a military record on him. I was able to obtain my fathers medals from WWII and a copy of his enlistment record. I found a couple of family tree's that list him as Jack Adams, but without any further information. I found Ruth Richardson's 1920 Census. 1920 Ruth Richardson Name: Ruth Richardson Home in 1920: Aurora Ward 3, Kane, Illinois Age: 10 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1910 Birthplace: Illinois Relation to Head of House: Daughter Father's Name: Edward Richardson Father's Birth Place: Ohio Mother's Name: Lottie Richardson Mother's Birth Place: Illinois Marital Status: Single Race: White Sex: Female Able to read: Yes Able to Write: Yes Neighbors: View others on page Household Members: Name Age Edward Richardson 35 Lottie Richardson 30 Harry Richardson 13 Ethel Richardson 11 Ruth Richardson 10 Edward Richardson 6 Walter Richardson 5 Also a couple of family tree's for her. Niether include information on Jack other than his name. Also mentions a second Husband Gardner Magill 1907-1960, and a third James Douglas. So where do you go from here? I'd look for his newspaper obituary. Probably under Jack Adams since it doesn't appear he used Clarence. I tried to find an earlier census in Pennsylvania with a Harry Adams but came up with two or three possibilities. Then I would begin the old fashioned way like my grandmother used to do with a hand written note to your elderly relatives. The reason is that many of them have a box just like my Mother in law did of obituaries and another of old pictures of relatives. The obituaries went back to the 1930's. Some so fragile you had to take care handling them. The owners of those family tree's would be good contacts also. You need to do it now before the elders die and take that information with them. Something that will help you in just a few years is that the 1940 census will be available. I'm not sure how hard records are to get in Illinois. Perhaps you could find his death certificate? Sorry I couldn't be of more help to you. This is not my family. My Adams were Kentucky to Missouri to Oregon. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
