    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DavidHarding14850 Surnames: Adams Corlies Snodgrass Patterson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/9597.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello Helene, You have probably made progress in the five years since you posted here, but if not let me point out some relevant records here on Ancestry.com. In the 1895 NJ census there is a family in Summit, Union County, consisting of Thomas B Adams Anne C Adams Stuart C Adams Edmond W C Adams http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=1054&iid=NJV227_104-0615&fn=Thomas B&ln=Adams&st=r&ssrc=&pid=213058 In the 1910 census, Ancestry.com shows a family in Manhattan, NY, consisting of Thomas B Adams, head, 57, Cuba, Virginia, Spanish, clerical, corporation Anne C Adams, wife, 53, New York, New York, New York Stuart C Adams, son, 27, New York, Cuba, New York, clerk, banking house Edmond W Adams, 20, Wyoming, Cuba, New York, clerk, trust co. A Google search for Stuart Corlies Adams finds multiple references, both in the quinquennial reports of the Harvard Class of 1905 and the in "The York Times." He dropped out after his sophomore year and worked in New York for various companies up till the time of the June 1911 report. At that time he reported that he was engaged to be married. The "New York Times" had reported his engagement to Miss Margaret Rand in January 1910. And the June 1920 report of the class includes a brief account of his war experience. In the US Marine Corps Muster Rolls on Ancestry.com you can track the military career of a Corlies Adams (sometimes slightly misspelled, so search for Corl*s Adams). He enlisted in May 1917 and was on active duty until 1921. He then served in the Reserves until his death in 1930. This Corlies Adams appears in the 1920 US census as a 1st Lieutenant in the USMC stationed on the USS Arizona, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=6061&path=Military and Naval Forces.Cuba.Guantanamo Bay.Uss Arizona.2 He was divorced, 28 years old, born in Wyoming to a father born in Cuba and a mother born in New York. The 1930 census has him as Corliss Adams, 40, born in Wyoming, parents Cuba and New York. He is married to Maria and they have son, Corliss Jr. 7. The Ancestry indexing is messed up (as of this posting), linking him to the previous family on the page rather than to his family, but the image is clear. http://search.ancestry.com/iexec?htx=View&r=an&dbid=6224&iid=NYT626_1560-0415&fn=Corliss&ln=Adams&st=r&ssrc=&pid=42562407 He is at the same address and his wife has the same name as recorded in the USMC muster roll that notes his death, 14 June 1930. So, I think that this Corlies Adams is the same Edmond W C Adams who appeared in the 1895 and 1910 censuses. I also strongly suspect that this is the E. Corleis Adams who married Louise Kerper Harrison 30 Oct 1912. This marriage was reported by her father in "Scotland to America, 1826-1935, John Patterson Family Record, Carroll County, Ohio, Patterson Reunion, Waterworks Park, Carrollton, Ohio, August 10, 1935" Before they divorced, Louise and Corleis had a daughter, Anne, born 20 Sep 1913. [ibid] Louise then married Larned Irwin Snodgrass. Their marriage certificate (FamilySearch.org) reports her as divorced. Anne's burial information lists her father as Corleis Adams. http://www.springgrove.org/sg/genealogy/sg_deceased.asp?Interment_ID=183016. I'm only interested because Larned Snodgrass was my grandmother's brother, and I was trying to learn more about his adopted daughter. I would be interested if you have found any more information that might confirm or refute my guesses. David Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. Re: [ADAMS] Who is the wife of David Fanning Adams Sr.
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: JohnDulin51 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/15263.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: At this time I do not have any confirmation on the parentage of David F. Adams Sr. The search, as yet, remains inconclusive on Elizabeth (Ward) Adams as being the wife of David F. Adams Sr. The alleged source for this allegation is as yet unproven. If however, it is correct, then the place to search your Adams ancestry will lie in Edgefield County, South Carolina. ELIZABETH WARD Research submitted by Melanie Diane Ward - Whitney indicates that, " Based on census records Christopher and Catherine had more than three daughters, but am not sure what their names were...Additional daughters not listed may be married to some of the men that received property from Christopher's estate." Melanie subjects from her list of Christopher and Catherine Ward's children that the third daughter was named Elizabeth Ward. I had also noted that to the best of my knowledge, having examined census returns, that Christoper and Catherine had an one other daughter who was unknown to me to which I had presumed had died young. Evidence is submitted here as related by both Melanie Ward Whitney and by further research investigated by me that this heretofore unknown daughter was is all probablilty, Elizabeth Ward who had married an Adams. In the estate papers of Christoper Ward Sr. there is no specific entries that name his children. Their names are determined by: (1) the names of males as they appear in the estate sales of property from Christopher's estate which was filed for probate in 1833; and (2) cross referencing the names of Ward girls in Henry County, Alabama marriage records who married men who's names also appear within the estate sales of property belong the Christopher Ward. This list included that name of one William Adams. It also contains the name of W. Corkoroft. The Corkoroft name also appears along with Christopher Ward in the early Edgefield District census returns. In the estate papers of Catherine Ward, which were filed for probate in Henry County Orphans Court Record Book "D", beginning on page 27, the name of David F. Adams appears petitioning the court to be appointed as the administrator to Catherine's estate. Since Christopher and Catherine Ward left at least living children at the time of their death, and their estates were not insolvent, it would seem reasonable that any party petitionig the court to administer Catherine's estate would be related; either as one of their children, or the spouse to one of their children. In the Genealogy available on the internet for David Fanning Adams Sr., is cites his wife as named Elizabeth, but with no definite documentation as to her maiden name. At least some postings appear that her maiden name was Boles. At least two sons of David Sr. and his wife Elizabeth have been confirmed: (1) David Fanning Adams Jr. who is a posted message on ancestry.com-message boards was married to Margaret Ann Satcher and had as their second child a son named Joe Jefferson Adams who it is reported was born circa 1835, in Henry County, Alabama. The second son: (2) James W. Adams, who is shown residing next to his parents on the 1850 Covington County, Alabama census, was married on October 2, 1828, in Henry County, Alabama to Christina Sapp. The 1850 Covington County, Alabama census list David F. Adams Sr. as 66, thus born circa 1784; and his wife Elizabeth as aged 62, born in South Carolina; thus born circa 1788, which would be appropriate for being a daughter of Christopher and Catherine Ward. Author: JohnDulin51 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/15263/mb.ashx Message Board Post: An earlier posting by Joel Grantham list Elizabeth Boles as being the wife of David Fanning Adams Sr. I am researching a David F. Adams, who lived in Henry County, Alabama. David Fannie Adams Sr., born circa 1784-85, had at least two sons: David Fanning Jr. and James W. Adams. James W. Adams was married in Henry County, Alabama on October 2, 1828, to Christina Sapp. Their household appears next to David and Elizabeth Adams on the 1850 Covington County, Alabama census. David Fanning Adams Jr., according to a posting by "scooterman" list among this David and his wife Margaret Ann Satcher children a son named Joel Jefferson Adams, born about 1835, in Henry County, Alabama. From Henry County Orphans Court Record Book "D", beginning on page 27, one David F. Adams requested and was appointed as the administrator to the estate of Katherine Ward, deceased. Melanie Diane Ward, another researcher has listed among KKatherine's married children Elizabeth Adams. Since KKatherine Ward had numerous living children at her death, iit would seem logical that an heir or one married to an hheir would file to administer her estate. Doe anyone have pproof or documentation that David Fanning Adams Sr.'s was aa Boles? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
