Surnames: Adams, Pickerell Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CI.2ADEB/8944.1 Message Board Post: I am looking for my half brother. He was born in Iowa probably in Iowa City. He was born in late 1952 or early 1953. He was born to my mother Betty Lou "(Adams) maiden name" her married name at the time was Pickerell. If a father's name was on his birth certificate it would have been Charles Kenneth Pickerell. I was told my mother named the baby Richard and she was 17 or just turned 18 at the time she put him up for adoption. I was told this by my grandmother (my mom's mother) and my Aunt"(my mom's sister)" who is 6 years younger than my mom. My mom passed away in 1994 and my grandmother in 2002. I was told two stories about his adoption. One was Charles parents adopted him as their own or she just gave him to them to raise. This story is from grandma and my aunt. The other story was she went to a private lawyer and put him up for adoption, and because Charles name was on the birth certificate he had to sign adoption papers to give him up. Charles told this to my wife over t! he phone and also said the baby was not his. Charles was in the service at the time and when he came home on leave she was pregnant or had already given birth. He said he was willing to accept the child as his and raise and support both the child and my mom but she didn't want that. Charles parents names are Clifford and Erma May"(maiden name Boyd".) My grandmother and aunt said they believed at the time Charles parents were living in Davenport, Iowa. I believe my mom was living in Ottumwa, Iowa at the time. After I found out mom had a child before me, which I found out when I sent for my birth certificate, I told my sisters and brother. They new about him and said mom had told them, and 2 of my sisters remember mom saying she named him Richard. Any information would be most welcome. Thank you, Michael mutter_54@yahoo.com

    1. Found more children for Lydia Ostander and Samuel Douglas Adams
    2. Kristi and I went to the LDS family history center this evening. With the help we received from the gal overseeing the center, found more children for Samuel and Lydia. Husband - Samuel Adams Wife - Lydia Ostander Adams Children Sarah Rebecca Adams b. 22 May 1838 of,, Armstrong, Pa d. 05 Dec 1913 George W. Adams b. 16 Jul 1843 of,, Indiana, Pa d. 06 Dec 1861 Mary Adams b. 20 Nov 1845 of,, Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pa d. 31 Dec 1845 Ann Jane Adams Allshouse b. 20 Nov 1836 , Indiana Pa Now we have a sister Catherine E Adams Murray from Anne Janes application for Finleys Civil War pension. A possible Amanda who died with Lydia in 1845 as per the reburial from the Methodist Burying Ground we found at Allegheny Cemetery. Mary looks good for the name of the other daughter who died with Lydia as per Anne Janes story about two sisters dying with their mother, since the death dates are 21 days apart. George looks like a candidate for having died in the Civil War, have to do research on that. And Sarah Rebecca Adams gives me another place to look since it says she was born in Armstrong County. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Adams, Wilkins Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/CI.2ADEB/9141 Message Board Post: Seeking information on William Francis and Margaret E. Adams. William was born 1849 and died 12 Nov 1923. Margaret was born 1843 and died 17 Nov 1925 in Williamsport. Both are buried in Riverview Cemetary in Wilmington, DE. Children included William, Lena, "Woody" and Jenny. Jenny and Lena are also buried in Riverview Cemetary. Jenny was born in 1875 and died 13 Oct 1834. Son William had a son Robert who married "Heddie". They had a son Robert. My aunt tells me that there is a Robert still living in the Williamsport area (Bobby?) who might be William and Margaret's great-grandson. That would make him my 2nd cousin once removed. Jenny was my great-grandmother - she married Harry Wilkins in Philadelphia after working for him as a housekeeper. I've been told that Jenny was previously married to a man named Toelk. I would like to know if anyone knows of this family and any familial relationships/marriages as well as dates, places, etc.

    3. Hello Patty, I was going thru some old emails and re-read yours. I have a question for you. Sometime in the late 1800's in Salyersville, a William Adams owned/ran a tavern. In 1896, my gg-grandfather, John Wesley Adams, was visiting family in Magoffin Co and died there. Not sure what town, can't find where he is buried either. Was wondering if you have anything on this William Adams? Thank you for your help. Take care.
