    1. Re: [ADAMS-L] Adams from Va to Ky; Pleasant Adams
    2. Frankie Perry
    3. Angela, I have information on Pleasant Adams, his wives and children, in looking for information on another Adams, Arthur Adams, b. ca 1786 in Virginia, d. ca 1861 in Lawrence Co., KY. Some have suggested that Pleasant is the son of William Adams and Frances "Fannie" Meacham. Other lists of the children of this couple do not include him, yet there is a gap in children between Nellie b. 1797 and Elizabeth b. 1804, into which Pleasant, b. 1802/1803 would fit nicely. :-) IF Pleasant is the s/o William and Fannie Meacham Adams, some of siblings appear to be: Sarah "Sallie", b. 1796, d. after 1850 in Magoffin or Carter KY, m. George Knipp; Nathan b. 1796 or 1797; d. 1852 Marion Co, IL Nellie, b. 1797, d. after 1850 in Lawrence Co., KY, m. Jacob Burton Elizabeth b. 1804; m. William Gilliam Mary "Polly", b. 1805; d. 1857 Clay Co., KY; m. Corbin Lane Larkin, b. 1807; m. 1828 in Morgan Co., KY to Lydia Thompson Bathshebe, b. 1807, d. befreo 1875 in Magoffin Co. KY, m. Johnson Marshall Margaret "Peggy", b. 1810, d. 1899 in KY; m. in Morgan Co., KY to James Risner William b. 1811, d. 1859 Scott Co. VA (sons named Nathan, William, Henry, John Q, Spencer) Joel, b. 1814, d. aft 1880 in Magoffin Co, KY Frances "Fanny", b. 1817; d. 1859 Floyd Co., KY; m. James Minix (Miner, Menix) Matilda b. 1819; m. James Marshall Nancy b. 1820, d. after 1850 in Breathit Co, KY; m. Benjamin Howard This is all the research of others, who have kindly shared the info, either directly or by posting it online. William, son of William and Fannie, had a son John Q, who at age 8 yr., is living in the household of his widowed mother Mary Adams in Scott Co., VA in 1860 (HH #1221/1221). This MAY BE your John Q Adams. May I ask why you suspect a relationship between John Q and Pleasant? Frankie Perry

    3. Doyle, I am looking for the parents and siblings of JOHN ADAMS born 1802 VA, married NANCY BELL, born 1802 KY. Believe them to have lived next to each other in Pulaski Co. KY. Believe JOHN to be the son of HUGH ADAMS born abt 1775 VA, married? (May not have been married, but another story) to ELEANOR ELLETT. One problem, another genealogist has JOHN 1802 married to a JANE HORTON 1843.(Their is a marriage contract for two people by that name in Pulaski Co. KY in 1843, but after much research I believe he is the wrong JOHN ADAMS.) JOHN AND NANCY'S children: James H. b abt 1828 Hugh Calvin b abt 1829 d 1865 William Riley b 1831 d 1898 John M. /Quincey, b 1835 d 1893 Ancil Monroe b 1838 d 1900 Sarah Jane b 1838 (Ancil's Twin HUGH AND ELEANOR'S children: Ancel James m Malinda Jenkins Nerigh Rebecca b 1800 John Adams b 1802 Mariah b 1809 m John M. Humphrey 1836 William b 1811 m. Catherine Spencer Rachel b 1812 d 1885 m William Sales 1840 Hugh b 1815 I know JOHN b 1802 VA was born in that part of VA that became WVA between 1860 and 1870. I have all the family on down from JOHN AND NANCY. JOHN AND NANCY were married in Monroe Co. IN in 1826 and lived there all their married lives. HUGH lived awhile next to NANCY BELL'S mother RACHEL. HUGH and some of his family moved on to Pulaski Co. KY If you have any information on this family or possible connections I would appreciate hearing from you. If they were here in 1880, they were likely around Virginia City or maybe Ennis, both in Madison County. If they were there, they likely were gold miners or in trade to supply the miners. There is a book which might name them. It is Vigilantes of Montana and is authored by a Dimsdale. I don't think it is print now but most libraries would have access on interlibrary loan. I used to have a copy but books have a way of diappearing. Doyle
