I had some Adams in White Co. IL which is very close to the southern border of IL and KY. They came out of S.C. I have 2 James, but not the dates you suggest. I have no Richards. Do you have any other names or wives? In 1913, the state decided that it needed the land where the Asylum had been burrying any unclaimed bodies of people who died there. Perhaps 5,000 people were dug up and cremated, then put into labeled and welded copper cans to be stored in an unused part of the state run mental facility. Still over 3,000 patients' urns are waiting for family to find them. This is the long list of urns that are labeled ADAMS with as much info as I have. I am looking for a James Adams who was born circa 1830. He had a brother named Richard who was four or five years younger. Do not know anymore about the family except that he turned up in 1850 census in southern Illinois and died in the Civil War in TN. Does any of this fit what you already know? Sure would like further info as we have been searching for him and his family for 20 years now. Thanks, Renee
Greetings Cousins: I would be most greatful for direction of where to find or how to identify the parents of: James W. Adams Born: 1830 in Elbert County Georgia Married: Frances Crawford in 1849 These were my GG grandparents via way of their son Tandy, who migrated to Arkansas. My only clue (a weak one at best) might be Lawrence M. (Mansfield) Adams of Elbert County Georgia. Any help at all will be most appreciated! Bill Adams in Oklahoma

He has four children that I know of, but it is entirely possible there are other children born before 1829 which is the aprox date of the first child I know of. My James Adams children that I know of are: Jane, Letitia, Nancy and James. Do any of those names sound familiar?
Marsha, We have never been able to prove that the surname of the wife of Robert Adams was Lewis. Did you find some documentation? Also I have not found anything to support the belief that William Adams was the father of the Robert Adams who married Mourning. Grace
