Adams Male Birth: About 1858 , Crawford, Illinois Christening: Death: After 1870 Burial: ******* There is a Harriet Adams b. ca 1836 in IL married 24 Feb 1864 a Alexander Shoulders .. this in Crawford, IL. I'm wondering if the marriage to Alexander Shoulders was Harriet's SECOND marriage, her first to Silas Adams [according to the LDS, Silas Adams died in 1860]. There is an Alexander Shoulders and Harriett Shoulders mentioned in the will of a Henry HELD in Williams Co., OH ... Aug 1866 [that fits as she would have been married to Alexander two years prior]. I don't think Harriet was a daughter to Henry Held but perhaps a grand-daughter. [?] I am very curious if this Harriet is the one mentioned in the Will and who her parents would have been .. Is this the same Harriet mentioned in the will? Did she first marry Silas Adams and later Alexander Shoulders? I would be grateful for all help. ken

    3. Hello Grace, I went to Virginia some years ago and was researching the Montgomery family of Va to Ky and I believe this is where I found information on the Lewis, Adams, Dye, Douglas and Mourning families. I couldn't tell you what I considered proof at this point, but it was enough that I entered it into my FTM. I descend from Robert Adams and Mourning and not to argue the point I believe she was a Lewis and the same family that moved to Green Co. KY that intermarried with the Dye and Adam's families. Does anyone on the list have further information? Marsha -------Original Message------- From: GLSGAB@aol.com Date: 11/29/05 11:32:31 To: ADAMS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ADAMS-L] Robert Adams was a settler on James River in 1620 Marsha, We have never been able to prove that the surname of the wife of Robert Adams was Lewis. Did you find some documentation? Also I have not found anything to support the belief that William Adams was the father of the Robert Adams who married Mourning. 1. Emily E. Adams - Dallas County, Texas
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Adams, Briggs, Nichols Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CI.2ADEB/9282 Message Board Post: What Happened To Emily? Serena Briggs Nichols Adams and her second husband (and first cousin), Lewis Absolom Adams, had five children: William Austin Adams Emily E. Adams Samuel Augustus (Gus) Adams Aribell Amelia Adams Jackson A. Adams I have knowledge of four of these children’s lives, but Aunt Emily remains a mystery. She was born in April 1886, probably in either Collin or Dallas County, Texas. In 1900, she is found as a fourteen-year-old school girl living with her parents in Collin County. In 1910 she is in Dallas County still living with her parents. No census record has been found for the family in 1920, but we do know that Serena and Lewis were separated before her death in 1923. Lewis lived until 1931. It is quite conceivable that Emily married after 1910 and that we simply do not know who she married. The early marriage records of Dallas County do not reveal her marriage. In my portion of the family at least, there was no discussion of Aunt Emily, so I suspect she may have died as a young woman and possibly never married. She is not buried (under the name Adams) in the Mills Cemetery in Garland, Texas, where her mother was buried in 1923. There is no death record recorded in Dallas County between 1910 and 1920 for an Emily Adams who might be Aunt Emily. If anyone knows what happened to my great-aunt Emily or has any research suggestions, please let me know.
