He was married to a Maria or Mary L and had 3 children, Edith Ione Adams Hopper , Helen Elizabeth Adams Schenck and George H Adams. John Adams is listed as a shoemaker in the 1850 census. He seems to drop out of sight after the 1850 census. Perhaps he died before the 1860 census or was divorced/ Any information of this would be appreciated. redlac@cox.net

Born about 1830 in Boone County, Missouri, the son of James and Elizabeth "Betsy" Adams. He can be found living with his mother in the 1850 census for Cedar Township, Boone County, household # 1486. He is listed as Franklin M. Adams, but I believe he is the same guy, due to living with mom, and two houses down the page, his sister Martha Ann Adams Grindstaff (my great-great grandma) is living with her husband and family. I have a transcription of James Adams' will listing Francis, Martha, and other siblings. Rootsweb family trees have a good amount of additional postings for this family, and I am happy to help with any more info I can share. Oh by the way, I guess Francis may have married more than once, as I have indications of another spouse earlier than Ellen Potter, and the childrens' ages don't rule out that possibility. We just may be able to help fill in each other's blanks a bit! ! Be warned, however, that this James and Betsy Adams are my brick wall, and I don't have any solid info on either of them before their arrival in Boone County about 1817-18. Just let me know what info you're needing, and I'll see if I can help. One more weird thing- my wife is descended from one of Francis and Martha's siblings, Mahala Adams, so anyone in your family group who is descended from Francis may have just gotten 2 cousins for the price of one! HA! Best Regards, Gary I'll email you personally, also, with some images attached.

Sorry I was interrupted. Adolphia Adams [age 59] and husband Gist Wright were still next door to my Aunt Bettie Adams in 1910, but in 1920 he was there with a different wife and some stepchildren. Suspect Adolphia died in that decade. NO other info on her. John Q Adams, my grandfather, was born Dec, 1861 or 1862 and came to central Fla in about 1882. He married there [in Lakeland, Polk County] and had a successful Livery Stable and a good bit of Property at least until 1910. Had one son and 5 daughters [ incl. my mother b. 1902] I think he fell into the bottle or something in about 1912 or so. He died in May 1919 and his widow and children rarely talked about him except to hint at drinking problems. I was b. 1936 and knew his widow [NANA] until her death in 1960. NO idea what became of the Grandpa's brother Glenn Adams, nor of sisters Antonia and Henrietta. I am not sure the 1860 census is really his family , but AM sure of the 1870 and 1880 ones. As you can see there are few clues as to his father's name [Q B ??? or R N???] and NO maiden name yet for his mother MIllie Ann Adams. Thus I am looking for mostly FISHERS AND WRIGHTS. Appreciate any LIKELY info. Thanks. Steph Powell Cecil stephaxi@mindspring.com

Hi. I have a Frances Marion Adams, b. 6 Dec 1859 in MO. But I have that he married Icy Dora Freeman in 1879. She was b. 9 July 1857 in TN. They moved to Texas at some point, I'm not sure when. I wonder if our Frances Adams are the same? Or possibly related? 1870 would have been a little early for him to be married. . . hmmm. My Frances died 24 Jul 1924 in Kimble County, TX. Marilyn, I only have one David and he died in early 1800's. I don't have a Jonah, but Kansas was one of the stopping spots for our Adams. Let me keep these guys in mind. Seems like some of them were in Norton KS, but not the two you mentioned. I'll keep looking at my stuff. JAN.1991 UNKNOWN I am researching an Adams family that migrated originally, we think, from Pennsylvania, to Belmont Co.,Ohio (probably in 1850s or earlier), briefly to Tyler Co.,Virginia/West Virgina (1860), then to Hamilton Co., Indiana (1865 or so), and some then on to Norton Co., Kansas in 1880's. It includes a David F. Adams, a brother of the Jonah Adams I am researching. I don't know where David or the other siblings went, but think David married, either Mary J. B. Newton 9/19/1880, or Mary M. Whetsel 5/20/1883 (or both?) in Hamilton Co., Indiana. The latter is probable since Jonah's wife (Lucinda's)sister also married a Whetsel in Hamilton Co. Another brother of Jonah and David F., John W. Adams, probably married Henrietta E. Presser 8/21/1881 in Hamilton County, Ind. Do any of these people sound familiar to anyone? I would like to find where in Pennsylvania to search - Jonah, et al.'s father, Hugh Adams, was supposed to have been born in PA. Hugh Adams married Lucinda Cooper in Belmont Co., Ohio 4/17/1857, and the Coopers also were supposed to be from Pennsylvania. (Lucinda-Jonah Cooper-John Cooper). Jonah Adams also named one of his sons Hugh Tobias Adams in Norton Co., Ks. Thanks for any help. Marilyn. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Carole A. Thanks, Karen. Jonah (Joner) and Hugh were both in Norton County, plus the children of Jonah. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Karen" <diggingupbones@cfl.rr.com> To: <ADAMS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, January 15, 2006 5:05 PM Subject: RE: [ADAMS-L] Re: DAVID CLAIRE WEST ADAMS B. 6-15-1905 D.
