In answer to Steph Powell Cecil -- One way is to go to your search engine (Google) and just type in "genealogy of U.S. President." When you get there, type (or click on) John Adams or John Q. Adams. The genealogy IS there. I know because I am related to both and got a lot of the information this way. Also, if you go to _www.ancestry.com_ (http://www.ancestry.com) and type in the president's name, birth date, spouse, etc., there is a lot of information there. Carole Pringle
I have a David N Adams, back in the mid 1800s, never knew what the N meant. Sue Adams Diaz

There are many, many Adams lines in the US, and most don't descend from this one family. My husband's line actually does have a relationship, through the Boylston family. His grandmother, Annie Hall, is descended from the Boylston line that originally came from London, England. The Boylstons are related to President John Adams by the marriage of John Quincy Adams to Susanna Boylston. Both Presidents Adams are her second and third cousins, respectively, generations removed of course. Other lines that mixed with these are Caswell, Bartlett, Brooks, Currence, Sill and Averill, all ancestors to my husband's family. There is a web site for the New England Historical Society, and it has a great deal of information on these families.

Some of the Adams family relationships are hard to understand, and sometimes two people shared the same first and last names. All the data you posted matched what I have put together, so I am happy about that much. I have traced Isaac and Absalom back for two more generations, but my documentation is thin, and I hesitate to post something that might be accepted at history. E-mail me privately if you want this possible ancestry data. I have seen Gilley's grave in the Motto/Cooley Cemetery. As I remember, her stone and hard to read. Hunters use the cemetery as a gathering point, and it is in a terrible condition. Sarah Ellen Adams' first husband was Charles A. Stephens His military career was very brief; he was wounded in Arkansas on October 14, 1862, and "died in Regiment's Hospital October 15, 1862, of wounds" (Service record). I think that after her first husabnd was killed, Sarah E. Adams married her second cousin who was Elias Moss Fox. Elias was my mother's greatuncle. Elias was a very colorful figure. Do your records mention him? Thank you for your posting. I have not worked in the Adams section of my records for some time and I am glad to revisit them and check them.

Although there has been much speculation, and a lot of incorrect information, it appears that this Nipper Adams was orphaned at a young age and that he may have been the son of an older Nipper Adams of PWCo, a descendant of John Adams of early Northumberland Co. Another descendant of that same John Adams was named Abraham Adams. He was not born in NC, but in Virginia, although he migrated to Rowan Co NC in app 1772. Hi... Fellow Adams researchers... Could someone who knows please post a location [website] which will show the descendants of our two Adams Presidents.? I have seen them in the past but can't find them now. Apparently almost NO ONE of us has escaped the story of being one of their offspring. Is there not also a website with the line of Henry Adams of Braintree--- predecessor to the Presidents.? I think it might help a lot of us , particularly the newer subscribers, to be able to see these DOWN lines now and again. Two of my younger 1st/2nd Adams cousins would like to tell their children how we are related to John and his son John Q. Adams, Presidents. I suspect it will be WAY BACK.----Maybe even before Henry--- but would like to show them the charts. Thanks. Steph Powell Cecil stephaxi@mindspring.com
