Hi, I am new to the group. I am looking for info on Jessie Love ADAMS born 1875 in Headville, Kansas. Her parents are Alexander ADAMS born 12 Oct 1834 in Portland, Indiana; died 18 Jan 1911 in Monte Vista, Colorado; and Louisa Jane SPURGEON born 16 Feb 1840 in West Virginia; died 21 Aug 1940 in Denver, Colorado. She married Benjamin Joseph MITCHELL on June 5, 1891 in Colorado. Ben was sent to prison and his mother came to help take care of their children. Rumor has it that Jessie didn't want to take orders from her mother-in-law, and so she left the family, never to be heard from again. another rumor said she went to Utah with a morman, but there were no names or places. I would love to know what happened to her. I am also looking for Alexander's parents. He was in the Civil War in Co. F. 64th Kansas Cav.. He is buried in the Homelake cemetery in Monte Vista. Any info on any of them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Brenda

He is buried at Sweetwater Cemetary. As you know Adams was a common name in the Augusta /Edgefield area, and censuses back to early 1880's show a lot of us. Pickens was a very common name as well in that part of SC, since he was a revolutonary war hero.. Most of my clan stayed in the Augusta area or moved upstate towards the NC border. Hope this helps. where did your husband's kin settle down? Jim Adams

He has James Pinkney Adams Sr. b. Jun 11 1876 d Sep 4 1938 . James' father is Pickens Butler Adams b. abt. 1830 . Pickens' father is John Quincy Adams b. abt 1809. They seem to be living around the meeting street community. My husband got this information from a Mr. Timmerman who was tracing history in the Edgefield area. The information lead to Frances E. Ouzts Cumbee Adams who was married to Pickens. Since you had similar names in your message post I thought some of your people might be brothers to mine. If you can shed some light on our dark trail I would be very grateful. I just don't know where to search anymore. Tamara

Hi List, We're one of the new ones who haven't listed yet. We did DNA testing and now our Esquire/Squire is no longer descended from Stephen Adams and Elizabeth Whitaker as once thought. We are related to Stephen "Rockhouse" Adams of Perry/Letcher Co., KY. I have not figured out which son of his that Squire was born to yet. There are 2 distinct lines of Adams from Floyd/Perry/Letcher County at the moment. I hope more from that area will test. I can prove the following line: Squire Adams, b. July 25, 1830 in Perry County, KY, m. Elizabeth Craft in Letcher County, KY Rueben Rudolph Adams, b. Feb. 6, 1863 in Letcher County, KY, m. Sarah Jane Cornett, b. Mar 3, 1882 Luther Adams, b. Jan. 21, 1900 in Letcher County, KY, m. Oshie V. Hall, b. May 16, 1898 Clinton Adams, b. 1930 in KY It has also previously been thought that Squire was a twin to Allen Adams who married Cynthia Ann Thornsberry. I have found in the census records that Allen is listed in the 1900 census with a birthdate of Dec. 1826, and has consistently been older than Squire in each census that I've found them in so far. So, they are not twins. Neva Adams

Hi all, I am new to this list and searching for information on Henry Adams family in Falkland Islands (Stanley/W. Falklands) and possible UK before that. The details I have so far from www.patbrit.com and other sources: Henry Adams - a policeman in the Falkland Islands, parents unknown, origin unknown (England, Scotland or born on islands?), wife unknown. Son: Henry Edward Adams, born c. 1854, Falkland Islands. married Ellen Frances Bartlett, (born 1858, Falklands) on 20 May 1881 in the Falklands. circa 1891 moved to Magallenes Chile. Was a sheep farmer (according to marriage certificate of his daughter). Children: 1) William Henry Adams (Born 1884 in Falklands), a gaucho in argentina, married Matilde, died in Puerto Deseado. 2) Emma Bartlett Adams, born 1887 (my great grandmother). She was later in Belfast, N. Ireland circa early 1900 and we believe she may have been orphaned as she was receiving pocket money from her uncle (mother's side) and living with her aunt and cousin (name of Mrs Dempsey and Miss Elizabeth Dempsey - possible Henry E. Adams sister?) If anyone has information or leads, especially on Henry Edward Adams and/or his father Henry Adams and family I would be very grateful. Many thanks Kind regards, Natalia ___________________________________________________________ To help you stay safe and secure online, we've developed the all new Yahoo! Seeking information about the family of ARTHUR ADAMS, born 1786 in Virginia; married by about 1820 to Frances "Peggy" HORNE (HORN). Arthur and Peggy came to Kentucky about 1818, are listed in 1820 Floyd County, Kentucky census and the 1830 Lawrence County, Kentucky census. Had at least 11 children who were reared in Kentucky.
