Off the top of my head I believe in the 1850 Chester S.C. census there are Kitchens as well as Adams. That is where my Adams family is from and I do believe I've seen many Kitchen families there. I too have an ancestor name Rachael. She had a son named George W. Adams who was born about 1830 and in 1880 was on the census for Rockbridge County, Lexington, Va. He was my Great Grandfather. Does this sound close? Oh, Rachael was previously married to a man named Smith, and the name of Rachel or Rachael Smith is all I've found so far. Let me know. I could not find any other info on George, William or Rachael in Virginia....so I'm going to search in New York. Jay

Adams, granddaughter of James and Clara Adams through their son Berl. We've been married nearly 32 years, and I'm doing genealogical studies to pass on to our children and grandchildren. What I think I've found is that James' father was Andrew, and that Andrew's mother was Winnie (?) ((Adams)) Evans. It looks like she married (?) Adams between 1850 and 1860, because by the 1860 census, Winnie is already married to Mr. Evans, but 4 Adams children are listed in the household as stepchildren of Mr. Evans. This is all out of Harrison Twp, Knox County, Indiana. The 1850 census has an A.C. Adams as a single head of household, living next door to Samuel Adams Jr. My guess is that this A.C. is Winnie's first husband and the father of the Adams children listed in the Evans household in the 1860 census. Looking at the ages of A.C. and Samuel, I'm also guessing that they were brothers. Which, if I'm correct, leads me to believe that their father was Samuel Adams. And, when you look around the county, sure enough, there is a Samuel Adams Sr. listed. His age would equate to a 1791 birthdate and place of birth is given as Pennsylvania. Does anyone have ANY information that would either establish or refute my guesses? Thanks!!! Joe Hittle skadj@yahoo.com
