With regard to John Adams of Roaring River area of Wilkes Co NC some of whose descendants went to Floyd/Perry/Letcher Co KY, a descendant of Stephen ADAMS (b 1778 NC, son of John ADAMS Jr) has been tested. His DNA, although only a 12-marker sample, matches that of descendants of John ADAMS, carpenter of Northumberland and Stafford Co NC. It does not match the DNA of William Sr and Jesse Adams of Wilkes Co. I feel that -- since there were so many separate ADAMS families in that area of NC during Revolutionary times -- that some of these lines of descent may have gotten intermingled in later research. It would be nice to see if we could untangle some of this. Does this mean her maiden name was not Fassett after all? Or did she start out as a Fassett and remarry to a Fassett? Does anyone have a death record for Eleanor? Just wondering and confused. Hello again, I was hoping someone would have information on the wives of Isaac Adams. I was told he had five wives. His first wife was Mary Clendenin (his cousin) in New York. She died in 1823. He married Sophrina Porter in about 1827 in Lenawee County, Michigan. I do not know when she died. He married last Mary (I believe Fisher) in 1849. They were married for 30 years until his death in 1879. That leaves two wives unaccounted for. He most of his life in Lenawee County, Michigan. Thanks again, Laura
Another thing I was wondering as I was looking at my Adams information was if Pruda had been married a previous time. I have Pruda Jaques marrying Isaac Adams July 3, 1769. There are records online that show a Samuel Jaqua (Jaquaes) marrying a Prudence Earl February 3, 1755. They have five children from 1755 to 1762. I don't have information on Samuel's death, but all her children were born in time for her to then marry Isaac in 1769 like the same record shows. I was then wondering if the name Pruda Jaques in my records was wrong and it should be Pruda (Prudence) Earl. Any thoughts? Laura

Instead of being two different lines, Squire is still connected to William Sr. through his descendant Stephen (Elizabeth Whitaker). Squire's line is connected to Stephen "Rockhouse" Adams (Ellender Buntin) by a common ancestor up the line from both Stephen's. We do hope that others will consider finding a direct male relative to test for the Adams surname project to help all of us get past our brick walls.

Isaac Sutherland's and Sylvia Hackett's daughter Phelina Sutherland b. 10/2/1827in Indiana married William B Whipple, I think the B stands for Bowen. (William Whipple's mother's maiden name). He was a native of Rhode Island. This is the tie in with the Sutherlands and Whipples in my line. I do not have any information on Roger Sutherland b. Jan 9, 1775, his father Joseph, was from Scotland. Another son of Isaac Sutherland, name of Darius, also married a Britton, Anzoletta. (Mae McCann, mentioned below is the grand daughter of Darius and Anzoletta). The daughter of William and Phelina, Sarah Whipple, b. 1853, in Illinois, married Ira Britton, b. 1851. Ira drowned while fishing on July 4, 1889. Leaving Sarah a widow with 8 children and a farm to take care of. Sarah's granddaughter Leila Violet Britton married a Kliven. Her father was William Bowen Britton, mother Mabel E Crouse. She was my husband's mother. In 1980, there was a Mae Sutherland McCann in Deer Island, Oregon, that furnished the information on the Sutherlands. She was 93. Do you have this book "A Thousand and a Half Sutherlands"?

She was born in Tennessee and so were both parents. They had been married 2 years and had one child. I can not make out the daughters name well on this census. She was about 2 months old. born in Tn. Name almosts looks like Hallie G. or Hattie G. I did not find a census for 1920 but they are togather on the 1930 Census in Robertson Co. Amazingly though Wash is listed as age 73 and wife Maggie is only 42. Remember though that in those days, women didn't tell people how old they were. Not willingly. Wash's birthyear is listed as about 1857. on this one where as on the previous one he was listed as born about 1890. I suspect someone was having a bit of fun. There are previous one for Wash Adams but since I don't know exactly when he was born it is hard to be sure which one is correct. Hope this helps.
