I am trying to learn more about the descendants of Thomas and Joanna (KEYES) KIDDER of Chelmsford and Westford, MA, in the early 1700's. They had 5 sons; 2 remained in the Westford area and 3 went north to help found New Ipswich, NH. Their oldest, Thomas "Cornet" KIDDER and his wife, Elizabeth WHEELER, had 2 daughters (a son died young). Elizabeth KIDDER, b1745, married 1) Zacheus GREEN, and they had about 10 children and lived in Carlisle, MA. (Elizabeth marr. 2) Frederick BLOOD (prob. around 1805) Sarah KIDDER, b1761, married Lt. Samuel ADAMS, Jr., b 1747 Chelmsford, probably the son of Samuel and Esther (EMERSON) ADAMS. They married in 1780 in Chelmsford, and had 5 children, a son, Samuel, b1781, then Sally, Mary, John, Lucy. That information is from "the KIDDER book." But, other books say that Lt. Samuel ADAMS had a first wife, Thankful CHAMBERLAIN / CHAMBERLIN, who he married in 1770 in Chelmsford. The LDS site has one child for this couple: Patty or Martha ADAMS, b1771. I would like to know if there is additional information on the 2 wives of Lt. Samuel ADAMS. If there is, I would like to add it to the update of the 1941 KIDDER book which is being prepared.

(Years approximately, but close). I'd love any other family information you have & I'd be glad to share any information I have. The list isn't all that chatty......so sometimes its best to make the effort to send a test message to see 1. if you somehow got unsubbed (because if that happened you'll get back a message saying that your not a member of the list & gives directions on how to become one). 2. your ISP may have changed your addy or filtering system w/o your knowledge, which can cause problems & w/o sending a test message (that you expect to get back) then you won't know exactly where to look. And its more helpful to the list owner for the member to check everything out on their end First before asking the list owner to figure it out. Besides you won't know what is wrong w/o trying to figure it out first........ So I don't mind the test messages. Alli :) Listowner > If there is something wrong and your not getting emails you won't get your > test email.
Just for future reference for anyone who does not know this....... if you scroll to the bottom of our emails we get from the list you'll find this: ==== ADAMS Mailing List ==== To UNSUBSCRIBE in MAIL mode use: Adams-l-request@rootsweb.com To UNSUBSCRIBE in DIGEST mode use: Adams-D-request@rootsweb.com List-Manager's Address: Adams-admin@rootsweb.com Archives: http://resources.rootsweb.com/surnames/a/d/ADAMS For Virus help: http://www.wvi.com/~wb/virushelp.html You can check the archives to see if your missing anything and not getting emails that everyone else is getting.... sometimes it's just slow. You can also check in Rootsweb and it will tell you. For searching among the oldest Adams kin connected to DNA testing, look at two sources. John Walden's Adams DNA website: http://www.freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jswdna/adamsresults and the Familytreedna.com sponsored http://www.ysearch.org where you can look up surnames and related data for those tested on the oldest known/suspected ancestors. All of this is voluntary, so it depends on individuals sharing what they've learned. For overall information about the progress being made in genetic genealogy, I recommend visiting: http://www.familytree.com Keep in mind everyone, that we are early in the process and discoveries of genetic genealogy. The more tested, the more progress we will make. Recruit, recruit. Is there an index of the oldest relatives that are represented so far? I am a female but found the relative list on my Plotts to be helpful. Thank you, Doris Snyder

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/CI.2ADEB/9443 Message Board Post: If you are a male Adams, please consider having a DNA test and joining the Adams Surname DNA project. It is painless and relatively inexpensive. The thing that will make it start churning out results is to increase the number of participants. There are already close to 100 and two thirds have matches. We in the other one third are waiting patiently. It doesn't answer all the questions, but it certainly has the potential to get past a lot of the blocks we run into. If you do it, don't fool with the 12 marker test. Sooner or later you'll want to know more. 25 markers is sufficient. I did 37. I think there is a 59 marker test available now. Sooner or later I'll have to upgrade, but they will do that with the original sample. You can get to the project at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jswdna/adams.html I used Family Tree DNA because most of the others in the project did and other testing services don't always test the same markers (so you get a little apples and oranges situation going on). It looks like the Adams project is taking tests from several places. Good luck!
