    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: gpetrin169 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/6690.1.1.1.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am actually researching William and Hannah Parr from Albion twp, Peel County, Ontario but I came across the following while researching them: Baptismal register of the Mission of Chinguacousy, Gore of Toronto and parts Adjacents p.71 #466 Harriet Jane, 14th Feb 1848, bap 19th Dec 1848, - PARR and Mary Ann ADAMS, sponsors: Eliza ADAMS, Mary Ann ADAMS, Gore of Toronto, farmer, Clergy: Geo. S.J.Hill. This indicates that the father is a farmer from the Gore of Toronto township (Peel county) but it is very unusual that the maiden name of the mother is shown on baptismal record. There were other siblings to the same family in the same register. I have transcription if needed. then I found the following in Marriage Register of St.James Caledon East 1843-1857 (Peel county, Ontario) This is to certify that on the twenty fourth day of May of the year of our Lord eighteen hundred fifty, James Parr, bachelor of the Gore of Toronto, and Mary Ann ADAMS, spinster of the same township entered into the Holy Estate of Matrimony by license. Married by me, J. Dixon, witnesses: John Parr, Elizabeth ADAMS, and signed by Mary Ann ADAMS and James Parr. By the way, Mary Ann had a beautiful signature. By the way, there are other ADAMS in the Gore at the same time since there is a James ADAMS who has children, possibly a brother. According to the Perkins Bull files at the Peel County Archives, James Parr is a son of William and Hannah of Albion, but I don't know if that is true or not, I am looking for corroborating evidence. Author: jameshogrefe43 Surnames: Adams/Sutherland/Dawson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/9208.3.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks, Jeff, for the clarification. We are certainly looking at the same Pleasant Adams and Ruthie Sutherland, so the estimated birth date I had for Pleasant of "about 1730" must be incorrect. Do you have birth dates for Pleasant and William? I only showed that Pleasant and Ruthie had four children: William (who died in infancy from a cat scratch), Lucinda, Hannah (born 1/22/1813 and died 7/1890), and Rebecca (born 2/22/1820). Therefore, they must have married by 1810. My records show that Rebecca's second husband was Henry English and that they had 6 children. Her third husband, James Garner, and she had 3 children. By then my records appear accurate. It is the earlier generations that interest me. If you can provide more information about Pleasant, William and their parents, Richard Adams and Susannah Dawson, I would appreciate it. In any case, it appears that we are distant cousins. Thank you. Jim Hogrefe Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
