Earliest details are as follows:- The first two John ADAMS and William ADAMS, are not 100% confirmed, however appear at present to be the most likely father and Grandfather of Henry William ADAMS b 1831. John ADAMS born abt. 1788 in Clogher, County Tyrone, joined the British Royal Artillery in about 1810. William ADAMS born abt. 1810 Clogher, County Tyrone, joined the British Royal Artillery 1826 in Omagh at the age of 17 years. ************************************************************ Henry (William) ADAMS b. 1831 in Ireland, married an Ann Jane McKee in 1853. Henry was an engine driver on steam paddleboats operating on the River Thames. Henry's father William ADAMS was a soldier at the time of their marriage and Ann's father was Alexander McKEE also born in Ireland 1794 and a pensioner in the Royal Artillery living in the Woolwich Arsenal, he died 8th. November 1871 in Woolwich. Henry Adams died before 1891 and Ann died 14th. January 1900 in Woolwich. Henry and Ann had five sons, Alexander, George, Reuben, Charles and William Joseph and two daughters Jane and Ellen. The family was living in Globe Lane in the "Dust Hole" of Woolwich in 1871. The sons were nearly all Watermen & Lightermen. George ADAMS married an Ann Letitia HUSSEY and finally became a Captain on the Woolwich Ferry around the turn of the century. They eventually lived in Plumstead, Genesta Road where he died on 26th May 1926. Ann died 19th. Febuary 1946. Alexander ADAMS married Elizabeth Mary HUSSEY, Ann HUSSEY's sister and they continued to live in Woolwich in Paradise Place, until Alexander died between 1881-1891, and Elizabeth died around 1930. Charles ADAMS moved north of the River Thames between 1891-1901 and settled in the "East End" of London around the West Ham area, and married Alexandra Mathilda ALVAREZ. Charles died 10th. March 1938 and Alexandra on 2nd. May 1950. The descendants of Charles remained in the area until they lost their homes as a result of air raids during WWII and finally moved to the Hadleigh/Southend, Essex area where they are located today. Thanks for any help you can give. Regards Terry ADAMS Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: lcangel Surnames: Angel, Angle, Boone, Carson, Kincaid(e), Sells Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/8188.3.2.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: We certainly do share many surnames. That in itself is worth working on. To date I have not been able to find any information prior to my family's arrival in Missouri. There is information that a John Angle from St. Louis, MO was a fur trader in the late 1700's. Francis Angle, the name of my furthest Angle ancestor, was listed as the administrator to his will in 1818, I believe, so John could reasonably be my ancestor. Knowing the nomadic nature of fur traders, I am not sure I will ever figure out where he came from. But Daniel Boone's trek west led him through St. Louis complete with Kincaids and Abraham Lincoln's father. I would love to know everyone that was included in that trek west with him from Yadkin, NC. My John Moses Angle married Mariah (Marie) Boone Kincaid in 1872 in Pike Co., Illinois (across the Mississippi from Pike Co., MO). John's father, Moses Kelly Angle, married (Martha)Sarah Weathers Adams in Pike Co., MO in 1849. I was told by a Adams descendent that Sarah's parents were David and Nancy Adams. I have not been able to prove this. This is my Missouri connection to both families. How do your Missouri Adams and Kincaids fit? It would not be out of the ordinary for my Angles to have once been Angels or Angells. My great grandfather changed the name from Angle to Angel. So the difference in the name from your family does not stop me interest in a connection. A Kincaid family member had spoken to me about my connection to the family and I found out that my ggreatfather had been very good friends with his Kincaid cousins, particularly Pearl, who had been an actress in the very early 1900's. I had been in touch with an older gentleman that was looking for a connection with my Angles, because his Van Bibber ancestor had married a Nancy Angle and he could not find where Nancy was from. He was in his 80's and may have passed, but he followed many of my posts on this family in roots web. Do you see any connections to this? I believe you are the only response I had to this post. Maybe we should share GEDCOMs. You can reach me at: [email protected] Laurie C. I just was doing some more search, and wondered if any of your Angel (Angell?) folks were in Forsythe Co NC? The reason I ask, is because since we "talked" about this a few years ago, a cousin had a DNA test, and we were matched to an Adams line who are buried at Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery in Winston Salem, NC. I looked to see if there were any surnames which were familiar to me in my research, and there was George Sample Angell (1886-1967) It states that he was the son of Lafayette and Cladora Ann(Dora) Boone Angell. Where we know my Adams' arrived in Missouri with the caravan of Vanbebbers, Kincaid, Thomas, Grimes, McGlothin,. and Yoakum people I have kept on the look out for anything that could remotely be connected. Just curious to know if this family is related to you? Elise, MN Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
