Author: JRay38M Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/6649.1.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Dear Sue Sounds like there definately is a connection but my Adams in Chester SC came here from Ireland about the turn of the century as my John Adams was born here in 1820 however that doesn't mean that later cousins didn't still come from Ireland in later years. I have a Martha Anne Dunn no parents listed that I know of unless stuck in a file somewhere. No dates of birth either. However I show her married to brothers.... First on 10 Apr 1897 in Ripley Co. MO to Robert W. Adams b. 10 Dec. 1867 in Burnt Prairie White Co. IL. He died on 24 Feb. 1901 in Randold Co. AR. She then married his brother Archie Adams b. 1873 d. 29 Mar 1942 in Garland Co. AR. They married on 15 Sept 1902 in Clay Co. Datto, AR. They were the sons of John G. Adams b. 1 Jan 1840 Chester SC and Rachel Adams b. 1848 SC. Most likely John G. and Rachel were cousins but can't prove the relationship as of yet. All we know or at least all I know so far is his parents (John Adams and Mary Brown) both passed away I think in 1844 (maybe sickness or something) and he and his siblings were passed around to various family members, one of which John G. went to was John Morrow Marlin Jr., brother to my Nancy Marlin/John Adams. John Morrow Marlin's wife was Lilly Ann Wyl! ie. Which is significant because Lilly Ann Wylie's great grandfather was William Wylie b. 1713 in Maylarg Co. Antrim Ireland and HE married a Sarah Dunn. Those are the only two Dunn's I know of, or at least have in my data base right now. As far as the Morrow line... well I have tons of them that married both Wylie and Marlin/Adams lines but most of my dates are far earlier than yours. However you state your James was born 1872 in Ireland but you first find him in 1840 census in Wheeling WV? Well then he wasn't born in 1872. You must have your dates typed wrong. You want to recheck your dates, and get back to me. I have a couple James Adams but doubt they are yours. These men were in White Co. IL which is where MY Adams/Marlin line went. Author: SueAdamsDiaz Surnames: Adams Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.adams/6649.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I believe that each of you in this thread relate to my Adams family and I would like to learn more about them. My Adams originate from Ireland. Don't know when they got here, but my brother's DNA test link us with the SC Adams even though I find no info that they were there. My Adams traveled along the National Road route and into Ohio, later into Mo, and onward to Montana and California. James Adams was born abt 1872 in Ireland and I first find him in the 1840 census in Wheeling. The children married into families such as Morrow, Giffin or Giffen, Finney McDonald, and Dunn - as in the steamboat captain. Descendants that I know of still reside in Sedalia, Mo. and Florida. If you are related through Ross it must be Calvin Ross and Rhoda Adams my 2nd Great Aunt/Uncle OR Elizabeth Jane Ross and William Marlin who are my 3rd Great Aunt/Uncle. I do not have a family association between Calvin and Elizabeth though and I have several other Ross's associated with the Wylie family. I probably do not have any more information about the Adams than I did in 2002 when I posted here. But we'll see. you can email me privately......
