    3. This name immediately struck a bell -- I am descended (on the non-Acadian part of my family) from a Pierre Roland or Rolland, who ended up in New Amsterdam. The name became Rulon and then (in my line) Rulong. I know the (de) Forest line of Acadia also went through New Amsterdam.
