    2. In a message dated 1/12/2004 5:45:53 AM Central Standard Time, LucieMC@comcast.net writes: The reason that they do this and that they take the names of others for their deceased is because the Bible says “unless you be baptized, etc… you cannot enter the Kingdom” – so that quotation, for what it is worth to them, and to Joseph Smith when he put their bible together, is moves them to do this. So that is why, it seems to me, their goal is to gather and record names of all the people that ever walked the face of the earth. Does that mean that any Pedigrees that are submitted and listed with them have been Baptized by them into the Mormon Faith ...? I ...like you ....feel that mine have been Baptized Catholic and do not need to be Baptized again in the Mormon Faith. Linda

    3. Linda..why is this on the Listserv???? I hope it doesn't start a whole discussion about the Mormons. No it does not mean that they take pedigrees - my response said that church members submit their ancestors. 3. Lucie and list, This has been a very controversial issue with the Jews, the Vatican and major Protestant groups. The Vatican has ruled that Mormon converts must be re-baptized as it doesn't accept the Mormon Church baptisms as valid Christian baptisms. A search for "Mormon Baptisms" on Google or other search engines will bring up many articles on the issue.
