Below is current work on Louise Thibodeau. Roger A. Rozendal rogroz@swbell.net 17) LOUISE THIBAUDEAU Marie-Louise Thibodeau, born 1737, is the daughter of Charles Thibodeau[1] and Françoise Comeau [2], both deceased prior to 1757, and the sister of Amand and Olivier Thibodeau. Marie-Louise Thibodeau, her brother Amand Thibodeau, and her cousin Paul Thibodeau, along with Firmin Breau, may have been imprisoned at Halifax with their cousin, Pierre Thibodeau [3], born 4 January 1710, son of Michel Thibodeau and Agnes Dugas. Pierre married 1740 Élisabeth Trahan [4], who died before 1 January 1752. In the 12 August 1763 Halifax list of prisoners[5] is found: Pier Tibaudo widow [sic] 4 children [Pierre Thibodeau age 53 widower of Élisabeth Trahan Amand Thibodeau age 29 cousin of Pierre Marie-Louise age 26 sister of Amand Paul Thibodeau age 35, son of Claude Thibodeau and Elizabeth Comeau Firmin Breau age 14] Firmin Breau was associated with Amand and Marie-Louise in Attakapas. While imprisoned at Halifax about 1763, Marie-Louise married Pierre Gautrot, born 3 June 1730[6], son of Pierre Gautrot [7] and Marie- Josèphe Bugeaud[8] . Shortly before leaving Halifax with Joseph Broussard, a daughter, Marie-Josèphe, was born 3 Apr 1764 [9]. However, Pierre never reached Louisiana, because immediately after the arrival of Joseph Broussard’s group in New Orleans is recorded [10] : GAUTROT, Marie Joseph (dec. Pierre and Louise TIBEADAU [sic for Thibodeau]), bap. Feb. 22, 1765, born April 3, 1764, sponsors Aman TIBEADAU [sic for Thibodeau] and Gertrude BOURQUE [sic for Bourg] (SLC, B5, 82) In April 1765, Marie-Louise received a receipt for 50 livres in billetes in Canadian money [11] . Marie-Louise and Marie-Josèphe then settled at Attakapas. In the 1766 Attakapas census [12] is found: Marie veuve Thibaudeau, girl 2 years of age [Marie-Louise Thibodeau, widow Pierre Gautrot, age 29 Marie-Josèphe Gautrot age 2 (girl)] Marie-Louise was living near her brother Amand Thibodeau.
