We are newbies" at this and are looking here because the name "Augustin Dube" seems connected to Acadian families. We are looking for William DuBay, or Guillaume Dube, born 16 May 1830 "in Canada," who (according to an old family story) immigrated to Iowa with his parents, around 1850. The story is that his parents "went back" to Canada. William remained in Iowa, married and named his first-born son "Augustin." This "French Canadian" name for this son and William's birthdate are the only certain information we have. A birth year range for an unnamed son of Augustin Dube and Genevieve Bourgoin-Martin, in census enumerations for 1830 and 1840 St. Basile, Madawaska, NB, census fit our William. But of course, it might not be William. And his father might not be named "Augustin" at all. We'd appreciate any "where to look" suggestions with what we have from more experienced searchers. The DuBays
