Is this correct? I've pieced this together from what records I've been able to scrape together, but it seems like this implies a way- too-close-relationship marriage. I'm trying to sort out Onezime Carriere who m. Elise Sonnier. They had a son, Onezime, b. in Opelousas in 1828, who m. Azeline Derbonne, daughter of Michel and Melite (Sonnier) Derbonne. The records are pretty clear that Melite Sonnier was the daughter of Sylvain Sonnier by his first wife Judith Bello. The problem is, I've also found indications that Elise Sonnier who married Onezime Carriere was also a daughter of Sylvain and Judith. This would make Elise and Melite sisters, and Onezime and Azeline Derbonne first cousins. It's not impossible -- I know it happened -- but wouldn't there have to be some kind of dispensation recorded for this marriage? If there is one, I've never found it. So the question is: is this correct? Especially, was Elise Sonnier, wife of Onezime Carriere, the daughter of Sylvain and Judith (Bello) Sonnier, or did I record something incorrectly? Thanks, Gordon
